New York can get real cold
\nAnd this old kennel
\nDraped in frost
\nWas home of one dog
\nWho it seemed paid
\nA real high cost<\/p>\n
For owned by humans
\nAnd being left to be
\nFrozen to the marrow
\nWhich he was actually<\/p>\n
His bowl of water solid ice
\nNo food around no more
\nWired alas with no place to go
\nDesolate for sure<\/p>\n
A god forsaken existence
\nFrom arrant fools who kept
\nGuard dogs outside in their yard
\nSeeing him I wept<\/p>\n
Not even dried food or anything
\nJust a frozen block
\nThe wind blew like crazy
\nIt was quite a shock<\/p>\n
Seemingly a dog neglected
\nWith no where to go
\nIt seems he never went for walks
\nWhich few around did know<\/p>\n
Now and then they chucked him something
\nBut never stopped to see
\nWhether he ate it or wasted it
\nOr was there effectively<\/p>\n
Worthless people malefic
\nWith a tendency to be
\nCompletely psychopathic
\nSo terrible to see<\/p>\n
Spirit felt an outcast
\nSo forlorn and blue
\nOn ones own forever
\nWith nothing he could do<\/p>\n
But roll into a ball and hope
\nJack Frost would take him fast
\nIf only he could keep out of the wretched
\nWinters blast<\/p>\n
Not even an old blanket
\nAnd the kennel roof was holed
\nWhen we found him we called him
\nHe wasn’t all that old<\/p>\n
But clearly felt uncared for
\nA hapless little soul
\nDoom and gloom and misery
\nHe didn’t see a role<\/p>\n
Left for him in his sad life
\nInglorious and unblessed
\nWith circumstances deteriorating
\nIt had begun to test<\/p>\n
His spirit and his determination
\nTo try and see it through
\nThe ignorance of guardians
\nWho don’t know what to do<\/p>\n
Their numb between their ears
\nAnd heartless too for they
\nOnly look at the dog as their employee
\nSo to say<\/p>\n
Slackness and a laxity
\nAre compounding Spirits pain
\nThe harshness of his environment
\nThe pitiless refrain<\/p>\n
Humanity is descending fast
\nInto the pits of grime
\nThank goodness we have rescued him
