We put a collar lead on her
\nHer acceptance told a lot
\nSo early she was frightened
\nAlmost welded to the spot
\nBut trust was in her little heart
\nAnd clearly on her mind
\nAnd she allowed us close to her
\nWhich you do not always find<\/p>\n
She was whimpering but appreciative
\nSafely she could feel
\nWe had come to help her
\nThat instantly felt real
\nAnd she licked and kissed her rescuer
\nWith such warmth and sanctity
\nClearly she was satisfied
\nWith all that she could see<\/p>\n
She was nervous and bedraggled
\nAnd intestinal flaws
\nHospitalised for 14 days
\nShe’ been through the wars
\nHer foster family came to see her
\nEvery single day
\nPatted her and loved her
\nbefore they left each day<\/p>\n
Layla made good progress
\nShe was trusting she did know
\nThat she was being rescued
\nAnd her new family did know
\nHow to love and care for her
\nNeglect would never be
\nA part of her life she was sure
