\nThe guiding lights
\nThey did belong<\/p>\n
Not in some circus
\nNor cage
\nAnd no temple
\nAll of these places
\nApparently do
\nCreate a scenario
\nA kind of illusion
\nWhere tigers become
\nThe prisoner too<\/p>\n
The first dreadful moment
\nIs just after birth
\nA mother her instinct
\nShe has a great worth
\nShe is the cubs mentor
\nThe cub has to be
\nWith her for two years
\nBoth need this, both see<\/p>\n
Great value the foundation
\nThe caring it must
\nHappen but sadly
\nThat theory they bust
\nThe cubs are withdrawn
\nIn two weeks the bond
\nIs broken forever
\nAs hope does abscond<\/p>\n
They are wanted for tourists to cuddle
\nAnd feed
\nThe cost of that service
\nMeans the richer succeed
\nCubs meanwhile
\nPine for their mothers
\nThey are sad
\nThe real situation
\nIs they feel bad<\/p>\n
The tourists imagine
\nOr let’s say forget
\nThat babies need mothers
\nA human can’t pet
\nA tiger whose mother
\nWas taken away
\nbuy into that realisation
\nToday<\/p>\n
So these sweet little babies
\nWith great deals of anguish
\nAre bottle fed daily
\nBy all comers who
\nThinking those tigers are needful of feeding
\nBut that is unlikely
\nIt just isn’t true<\/p>\n
So we abuse the babies
\nAnd are cruel to the mothers
\nTheir simple foundation
\nIs stripped clean away
\nThat love of a mother
\nIs stolen completely
\nThat is neglect and abuse
\nI would say<\/p>\n
Tigers need red meat
\nRich in the taurine
\nBuilding strong muscle
\nAnd limbs of great power
\nTigers need exercise
\nLots of it everyday
\nBut confined on a chain
\nWith their freedom the pay<\/p>\n
Then comes a conflict
\nWild animal husbandry
\nAnd a religion
\nOne might stop to say
\nTo do this job adequately you need to
\nBe dedicated
\nBut wild feral cats
\nChained up all of the day<\/p>\n
Fattened with boiled chickens
\nNot good nutrition
\nThey need the the wild living animal prey
\nThey need to run down they need
\nThis fervour
\nSedentary lifestyles
\nAre just not the way<\/p>\n
All around this place
\nThere is barbed wire and fences
\nIt’s more like a prison
\nThan a Temple some say
\nI have to agree this is sucking the life
\nOut wildness
\nAnd offering tigers that will
\nLay around all day fat and indulged
\nTo be sat on a stroked
\nAnd photographed still<\/p>\n
The charge for admission
\nIs high and for getting
\nTo be with the tigers
\nFirst you have to sign
\nIf one should bite you
\nThere is no claim on the temple
\nThey bear no liability
\nFor lives on the line<\/p>\n

\nI think it’s as well that

\nAnd what we see
\nIs monks in their habits
\nWandering quietly
\nAnd inside the temple
\nChanting they be<\/p>\n
You can cuddle a tiger
\nAnd share the monks breakfast
\nIn a beautiful temple
\nBelief all the way
\nYou can feel their remoteness
\nCut off from reality
\nSat in the lotus position
\nAll day<\/p>\n
Clearly these tigers raised in captivity
\nWill never ever be wild for they are
\nConditioned by food and hordes of
\nSad tourists
\nIgnorant tourists
\nSome coming from far
\nForgetting the life force
\nThey are kind of indifferent
\nImagining really that them being there
\nIs somehow helping all the wild tigers
\nThose that are wild now living with despair<\/p>\n
Tourists have been injured
\nEven hand reared tigers
\nSometimes recall their roots
\nAnd do attack
\nIt’s true they are fat and very unhealthy
\nHow all this sits in the temple
\nThe flack
\nSome throw their way
\nJust doesn’t phase them
\nThey somehow imagine
\nTheir premise is sound
\nThailand is satisfied
\nAlso that they
\nAre a real draw for tourists
\nThe best one around<\/p>\n
Now how do you make a wild tiger
\nBecome like a kitten that
\nLies on a rug by a fire
\nThat instinct of centuries
\nProgrammed by nature
\nIn every cell
\nAnd all that desire
\nTo run down the buffalo
\nThe deer and whatever
\nAnd just lay around to be
\nFed as they say
\nBoiled chicken of all things
\nIt doesn’t make sense

It’s a circus it’s reducing the wild
\nSoul down to
\nA dispassionate creature
\nWho forgets what to do
\nIts just a brainwashing
\nTheir instincts destroyed
\nThat’s so disrespectful
\nOf creation employed<\/p>\n
And not really something
\nThat I would expect
\nFrom religious offerings
\nVeiled with circumspect
\nTo me there’s confusion
\nAnd disharmony
\nTo me it’s chaotic
\nI can’t really see
\nHow to unravel
\nThe lines all seem crossed
\nIn the beginning it’s the Tigers that lost<\/p>\n
Much of their grandeur
\nTheir status to rule
\nTheir power and their strength
\nOvercome by the fool
\nWho exerted some power
\nWe don’t really know
\nWhat power exactly
\nBut has cut the flow<\/p>\n
The wild ones are placid
\nThey do what they are told
\nThey live and they die
\nThey don’t get that old
\nIt’s far far removed
