We all are babies sometime in our life
\nEvery single one of us,that said
\nHow is it that dairy farmers have no pang
\nOf consciousness
\nWhen they remove the calf
\nAnd shoot it dead<\/p>\n
How can they let the milk production
\nHappen
\nBut take the calf from its mother anyway
\nIf the calf does not get milk
\nOf course the soul will die
\nExcept the calf is worthless so they say<\/p>\n
And so the farmer sells the milk
\nTo humans
\nAnd probably drinks some of it
\nIn his tea
\nMeanwhile the calf is pining
\nFor its mother
\nAnd it’s mother she is beside herself
\nFor she<\/p>\n
Carried that wee soul for 9 months
\nOf her life
\nThe aggravation and the love she bore
\nAnd as soon as it was born
\nThen It was kidnapped
\nStrife and stress and angst
\nWas her’s for sure<\/p>\n
Look at the cows when the calves
\nAre left to be with them
\nThis is motherhood it’s a natural way
\nThey are happy everyone is happy
\nBut not the dairy farmer
\nTill YOU pay<\/p>\n
Then of course they are happy
\nWith Money in tHe bank
\nThe little calf is pet food
\nOr veal
\nAnd has you to thank<\/p>\n
Then the baby ape or monkey
\nCute and sweet and pure
\nBut the university wants them
\nTo work out someone’s cure
\nWell not to actually help us
\nJust an experiment
\nStitch their eyelids
\nSo they cannot see
\nJust where they went<\/p>\n
And off they go to surgery
\nAnd back they come to rest
\nAnd off they go to surgery
\nI promise I don’t jest
\nSo much experimentation
\nSo much awful pain
\nStitches clips and scalpels
\nAgain and again and again<\/p>\n
We all were babies one time
\nAnd supposing what they had done
\nWas Killed us or experimented on us
\nAnd did it just for fun
\nImagine what society might have made of that<\/p>\n
But goes along with calves and kids and apes and monkeys at
\nThe farm or university
\nWho Didn’t do a thing
\nTo earn the right to die
\nLike that it has that familiar ring<\/p>\n
But money is the answer
\nIt clouds the human mind
\nIt puts aside the angst
\nAnd woe
\nAnd kind of helps to bring
\nHappiness back to farmers and consumers
\nRight away
\nThe farmer gets his money and the consumer
