Circumstances change of course that’s very very true
\nThat’s why we have contingencies
\nTo help us safely through
\nIf we have a business and animals to feed
\nWhatever happens
\nClearly we have to take the lead
\nWe have to be responsible we can’t just walk away
\nForget we chained them to some fence
\nAnd they are there all day<\/p>\n
They are thinking caring breathing souls
\nAnd they depend
\nOn us to give them sustenance
\nAfterall we are their friend
\nWe must ensure their comfort
\nTheir food their drink and see
\nThat they are given welfare
\nAnd of course some constancy<\/p>\n
They are not machinery
\nThey are created souls
\nThey feel the love they need us
\nEach has their respective roles
\nThey are now your guard dogs
\nThey were once just strays
\nBut they gave you their loyalty
\nAnd paid in so many ways<\/p>\n
And now you have moved your offices
\nAnd they are left to be
\nChained up now most of the day
\nAnd hurt emotionally
\nTorn between the stresses
\nCut up about it all
\nAnd rex a highly charged canine
\nHe rapidly does fall<\/p>\n
Down into a low state
\nAnd begins to bite and be
\nAggressive as he sees his freedom
\nMissing tragically
\nLaying in his own shit
\nWith no real place to go
\nJust take the weather as it comes
\nAnd have nothing to show<\/p>\n
No pats no love no freedom
\nJust kicks and that rotten chain
\nThat cuts into his neck
\nAnd gives him lots of pain
\nThe itch becomes a scratch
\nThe scratch become a sore
\nHe sucks and bites and sucks just like
\nHe never did before<\/p>\n
And so the sores get bigger
\nAnd he’s laying in his mess
\nInfection is a worry
\nAs is the continued stress
\nAnd all the while the owners
\nThink nothing of his plight
\nAnd he just gets no food at all
\nWhich we know just can’t be right<\/p>\n
Before he had a clean cage
\nStill locked up outside
\nBut as a stray he would spend
\nHis day
\nIn there it’s not denied
\nBut since the owners moved a way
\nWhat now can he do
\nChained up going no where
\nAnd feeling so blue<\/p>\n
The security guards can remember
\nSometimes to let him free
\nTo let him run around the yard
\nAnd explore a bit and see
\nFor chained up like a prisoner
\nFacing the wrath of rain
\nOf inclement conditions
\nCan drive a dog insane<\/p>\n
Human beings have to be humane
\nIn what they do
\nNot forget the servant dogs
\nWho have worked their butts off too
\nThey do the job they are not paid for
\nAnd need some affection too
\nOr they will just go down and down
\nNot knowing what to do<\/p>\n
Greece seems very difficult
\nEconomically
\nAspropyrgos not far from Athens
\nOne must take a view
\nOne must try to help these two dogs
\nLanguishing in this yard
\nAnd the owners should be brought to account
\nFor the dogs employed to guard<\/p>\n
I hope to god a solution is found so they can be
\nRehoused and just looked after
\nAnd the owners made to see
\nThey have to fund their living
\nThey cannot just walk away
\nAnd we just hope it happens
\nHopefully today.<\/p>\n
As to other owners
\nWho take animals on they must
\nRealise the need to care
\nWe must not be unjust
\nNegligence it hurts them
\nCruelty is sad
\nLeaving them to suffer
\nAnd driving them quite mad<\/p>\n
Is not what we should be doing
\nWe owe it to them to
\nLove them give them lots of carEveryone of you
\nWho has a soul to look after
\nThen let us do it well
\nIn sickness and it health
