It’s the death of the old year
\nAnd the start of the new
\nWinter begins
\nAnd darkness does ensue
\nThe frost it may settle all over the place
\nA time of death when
\nThe spirits do chase<\/p>\n

The souls of those passing
\nAnd those long time gone
\nMeet up and some interact
\nOut there upon
\nLet’s leave them some fruits
\nFrom the forest maybe
\nAnd light a nice fire
\nFor the whole family<\/p>\n

We sat by the hearth
\nThe portal to where
\nThe otherworld cometh
\nAnd with them we share
\nWe look to the ancestors
\nThose souls we knew
\nWho went on their journey
\nAs ancestors do<\/p>\n

Sat around the fireplace
\nA drink and a prayer
\nLet the dead ones come forth
\nLet us all be aware
\nOf their presence
\nFor with us
\nThis night they will stay
\nA warm glass of mead
\nBefore they go on their way<\/p>\n

The spirit of Samhain
\nIt comes to the fore
\nOutside its cold
\nInside for sure
\nThe embers are burning
\nThe coals almost white
\nWe feel them beside us
\nTo see out the night<\/p>\n

I sit with my friend
\nAt the portal we share
\nOut through the curtains
\nThe green fields are bare
\nMaybe the odd owl a bat and a deer
\nLook through the night sky
\nThat’s now very clear<\/p>\n

I will be on my way soon
\nTo drive through the lanes
\nWhere the rickety hollows
\nAnd ghostly refrains
\nLeap out to frighten
\nAnd cast their wild spells
\nAnd go back to their darkness
\nTo the ringing of bells<\/p>\n

I will sit with my love
\nFor she is a wise soul
\nMy book of shadows
\nAre part of the whole
\nThat I have in this sweet life
\nTo spend this Samhain
\nWith such a women
\nWith so much to gain<\/p>\n

The thin veils are open
\nThe spirits now glide
\nAs Frost off the hills
\nTries to muscle inside
\nI look into her eyes
\nAnd her heart I can feel
\nI am masked by her love
