Elephants know they can sense it
\nAnd they feel the pain of it too
\nThey know the threat
\nOf the murdering set
\nAnd blood and true life
\nwhen it’s through<\/p>\n
Africa reels at this moment
\nThose gunning for ivory they
\nAre paid by the vilest of infidels
\nWho come in just to blow them away<\/p>\n
They do pick up the bones of the vanquished
\nToss them about in the dust
\nElephants know what we are doing
\nAnd view it with so much disgust<\/p>\n
Criminals with one intention
\nTo violate elephants who
\nRoam wild their freedom is obvious
\nUnder a carpet of blue<\/p>\n
The sand on the skin of red ochre
\nthe trumpets that sound and that shock
\nWhen the men come with guns
\nThey are feeling
\nReady and as such they rock<\/p>\n
The old skulls picked up and flung skywards
\nTossed in the air ever free
\nDo they remember their partners
\nAnd where at their death they can be<\/p>\n
Out in the bush risks are rampant
\nLions come and go as we know
\nBut the men with Kalashnikov rifles
\nThey are the ones that who can show<\/p>\n
It’s all about ivory for them
\nOr lion bones it’s all about that
\nMoney is the root of all evil the horrible trade
\nAny cat
\nGets such short shrift in all those canned hunts
\nAnd the ivory trade well it might
\nIt’s so much like torture to see this
\nThe poachers they all come to fight<\/p>\n
The elephants sense what is happening
\nAs shots ring out and the great souls
\nFall to the ground crushing what is around
\nThe sheer weight creates the controls<\/p>\n
But the elephants know they’re attacking
\nAnd charge at them that is their way
\nPrepping them really for battle
\nBut the bullets they get in the way<\/p>\n
They cut up the flesh of the elephants
\nTear bloody lumps out until
\nBlood loss is very apparent
\nAnd the ivory then of course will<\/p>\n
Be carved off or sawn off like crazy
\nTearing the flesh all away
\nThe blood is all over the poachers
\nWho covered in it have to pay<\/p>\n
Ivory China is making
\nA fool of itself maybe so
\nCarving it into small trinkets
\nTaking it out of the flow<\/p>\n
And the elephants sooner or later
\nWill die in a hail
\nOf bright steel
\nAnd fall on their faces
\nHaving been put through their paces
\nFor the scarcity value is real<\/p>\n
An elephant never forgets this
\nThe death of its friends in the herd
\nAnd will visit and revisit the site of the deaths
