On the 6th day of April
\nI was in Kuranda
\nMy special day nobody knew
\nBut despite that
\nthe day was a memorable one
\nthe angels stayed with
\nme all through<\/p>\n
But I was far far from
\nmy best friend in Perth
\nand didn’t get back
\nfor 10 days
\nI had forgotten it
\nit was all over
\nmove on
\nnow there was no point to raise<\/p>\n
Then that night
\nall the lights seemed
\nto go out as I
\nSat in the flat
\nand I saw
\nMy darling friend
\nwith a cake full of candles
\nentering now through the door<\/p>\n
No matter how old we are
\nour inner child kicks in
\nand as the whole family sang
\na tear or two rolled down
\nmy old craggy cheeks
\nand it all flooded back
\nwith a bang<\/p>\n
They hadn’t forgotten
\nmy birthday
\ninfact they had baked me a cake
\ndecked it with candles
\nand turned out the lights
\nI pinched myself
\nWas I awake.<\/p>\n
This is the nature of
\nmy darling friend
\nher heart is I know of pure gold
\nSo I had a birthday
\na cake and good wishes
\nand I didn’t mind
\nwashing up all the dishes<\/p>\n
