Singapore is my new place<\/p>\n
its in the tropics and is very hot<\/p>\n
its something that I have to face<\/p>\n

that hot tropical sun<\/p>\n
I tell you I’m done<\/p>\n
its sweltering and I can feel<\/p>\n
my heart pounding so<\/p>\n
how I \u00a0wished I could go<\/p>\n
back to my mother for real<\/p>\n

before she died<\/p>\n
she told me<\/p>\n
she’d cried<\/p>\n
almost every day at this heat<\/p>\n
how our coats get so dry<\/p>\n
and really thats why<\/p>\n
its really too much of \u00a0a feat<\/p>\n

to stay here just so<\/p>\n
singaporeans<\/p>\n
can come and gawp at us all day<\/p>\n
we have to suffer like crazy<\/p>\n
it s a price far too high<\/p>\n

stuck in \u00a0this concrete pit where<\/p>\n
I cant even think of the cold climes<\/p>\n
and my life is just downright despair<\/p>\n

human earthlings are such selfish people<\/p>\n
they treat us as slaves in their zoos<\/p>\n
this is not heaven its hell of their making<\/p>\n
I know this for you its not news<\/p>\n
you probably know how we’re thinking<\/p>\n
you possibly come here as well<\/p>\n
seeing a polar bear stuck in the tropics<\/p>\n
is interesting and you can tell<\/p>\n

your children about it<\/p>\n
how we survive in temperatures 50 below<\/p>\n
its great education but why wont you learn<\/p>\n
we should not be part of your show<\/p>\n

we need the cold polar ice caps and all<\/p>\n
not a picture painted on a concrete wall<\/p>\n
we need the ice in our watering hole<\/p>\n
not steaming with mozzies that<\/p>\n
are always on call<\/p>\n
biting us sucking our blood clean away<\/p>\n
making us sick day and a day<\/p>\n
not the dead \u00a0fish out of a pail<\/p>\n
we need some fresh food<\/p>\n
some seal or some whale<\/p>\n

shelba my mother she gave up and died<\/p>\n
she will be waiting on the other side<\/p>\n
waiting for me for she knows in her heart<\/p>\n
how awful it was that we both had to part<\/p>\n
zoo’s are an anathema profit based places<\/p>\n
where little men sit with the \u00a0ugliest faces<\/p>\n
decide our fate in some boardroom somewhere<\/p>\n
promising all of us abject despair<\/p>\n
