really I try to do what I should<\/p>\n
if she’s kind to me<\/p>\n
I reciprocate<\/p>\n
I mean to say that is my trait<\/p>\n

so I fetch a headless mouse<\/p>\n
and lay<\/p>\n
it gently where its going to stay<\/p>\n
where mum can see it<\/p>\n
when she comes down<\/p>\n
yes still in her dressing gown<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
she shrieks and seem so upset<\/p>\n
but this is agreat gift from her pet<\/p>\n
yes from me my pride and joy<\/p>\n
its quite a feat to catch a boy<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
they are unthankful<\/p>\n
they dont seem to care<\/p>\n
they do not see me sitting there<\/p>\n
for hours on end<\/p>\n
waiting for<\/p>\n
a ,mouse to leave<\/p>\n
his old house door<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
then I must pounce with all my might<\/p>\n
smother him for that is right<\/p>\n
tear his head of with one claw<\/p>\n
that is what my one claw’s for<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
lay it carefully on the mat<\/p>\n
for mummy what does she think of that<\/p>\n
she screams her head off<\/p>\n
and I get the brunt<\/p>\n
of all of that and then she will grunt<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
for weeks about it<\/p>\n
under her breath<\/p>\n
about the mouse<\/p>\n
and its death<\/p>\n
about the blood trail on the floor<\/p>\n
and how \u00a0her heart is sad and sore<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
us cats don’t have a lot of voice<\/p>\n
and really very little choice<\/p>\n
perhaps a song bird or a mouse<\/p>\n
a dried up spider in the house<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
but its never seen as a gift at all<\/p>\n
its something we’ve brought in and let it fall<\/p>\n
in a place where we forget it was there<\/p>\n
designed to give our host a scare<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
nothing could be further from the true<\/p>\n
thats not what we want to do<\/p>\n
it is a our gift \u00a0of thanks so they<\/p>\n
continue giving them every day<\/p>\n
