webs and dustbin lids<\/p>\n
of water<\/p>\n
peering up into the sky<\/p>\n
no lead no leash<\/p>\n
I’m free to wander<\/p>\n
streets and parks and cemeteries<\/p>\n
stones from youths<\/p>\n
and tyre’s a rolled down<\/p>\n
the blue sky is my ceiling<\/p>\n
and each day a kind of sad reprise<\/p>\n

shadows where I lay me down<\/p>\n
a dustbin where I eat in town<\/p>\n
wagging tails that set me free<\/p>\n
and set me up where I must be<\/p>\n

the streets of woe of gloom of doom<\/p>\n
it seems I have to go<\/p>\n
through rain and storm<\/p>\n
oft I get wet, as of course you know<\/p>\n
matted hair flea ridden back<\/p>\n
what I wouldn’t do<\/p>\n
to get close to a women<\/p>\n
and feel her soft hands through<\/p>\n

my fur, and could I kiss her<\/p>\n
jump up on her, \u00a0and she<\/p>\n
smiling looking crazy<\/p>\n
for this is where I be<\/p>\n
on the streets a lonely guy<\/p>\n
and she’s caressing me<\/p>\n
take me home my eyes now say<\/p>\n
for there I want to be<\/p>\n

but she gets up and walks off<\/p>\n
oh dear she’s leaving me to go<\/p>\n
but she turn s around and guides me<\/p>\n
to her car<\/p>\n
and then does show<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
me a place beside her<\/p>\n
thats \u00a0me a poor old stray<\/p>\n
no one’s ever loved me<\/p>\n
not until today<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
nobody ever patted me<\/p>\n
kicked me sure they do<\/p>\n
