A busy metropolis<\/p>\n
hot as can be<\/p>\n
Mumbai its a city<\/p>\n
of millions<\/p>\n
we see<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
so much going on<\/p>\n
its one hell of a place<\/p>\n
no real standard vehicles<\/p>\n
a graceless face<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
the city demands<\/p>\n
every service to be<\/p>\n
cris crossing working<\/p>\n
the streets<\/p>\n
earnestly<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
so where should the horse<\/p>\n
be<\/p>\n
pulling his cart<\/p>\n
carrying people<\/p>\n
into the heart<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
the hot sun<\/p>\n
is there all the time<\/p>\n
little shade<\/p>\n
for the horses who pull<\/p>\n
they are, on parade<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
working and \u00a0drawing<\/p>\n
their loads too and fro<\/p>\n
up hills and down<\/p>\n
they have to go<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
fly blown and maggoty<\/p>\n
water that stands<\/p>\n
attracting the bugs<\/p>\n
and swelling the hands<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
this can be hell<\/p>\n
for the horse and his cart<\/p>\n

no horse drawn should go<\/p>\n
the air is so rare<\/p>\n
and the water you know<\/p>\n

is dirty and hardly the fuel<\/p>\n
of those who<\/p>\n
must delve into their souls<\/p>\n
to carry us through<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
many give up and fall in the street<\/p>\n
tangled in harnesses<\/p>\n
no one’s discreet<\/p>\n
they pay heavy parcels and heavier<\/p>\n
souls<\/p>\n
there are no laws to speak of<\/p>\n
and lesser controls<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
How I feel for these angels<\/p>\n
those moon gazing souls<\/p>\n
who scamper to shadier<\/p>\n
places their roles<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
are to run and to run and to climb and to be<\/p>\n
at the beck and call<\/p>\n
with \u00a0adversity<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
surely its out there<\/p>\n
its hard all the day<\/p>\n
and more and more people<\/p>\n
are heavy<\/p>\n
the way<\/p>\n
is longer and busier<\/p>\n
and the stress too<\/p>\n
is building and yielding<\/p>\n
so little in lieu<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
for all the hard graft<\/p>\n
and the poor food they get<\/p>\n
and the whipping and ripping<\/p>\n
that sometimes is set<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
fast for them all<\/p>\n
as they take on the rest<\/p>\n

where the oxen walk by<\/p>\n
where the buses and trucks<\/p>\n
come and share their exhaust<\/p>\n
and breathing there<\/p>\n
honestly does appear forced<\/p>\n

but those cart horses suffer<\/p>\n
interminably<\/p>\n
life is much tougher<\/p>\n
how can it be<\/p>\n
that those who now use them<\/p>\n
abuse them like hell<\/p>\n
and don’t have the where for all<\/p>\n
to treat them well<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
no place to rest them<\/p>\n
no shade at all<\/p>\n
no fresh cool water<\/p>\n
and when they fall<\/p>\n
tangled and broken<\/p>\n
few even care<\/p>\n
but the goddess is watching<\/p>\n
and notes the despair<\/p>\n

man has to see what his<\/p>\n
shortcomings are<\/p>\n
