She was the girl who loved animals<\/p>\n
she
\nhad that passion for Afrika<\/p>\n
a visionary<\/p>\n
she knew in her heart<\/p>\n
that out there far away<\/p>\n
was a land where the animals<\/p>\n
lived \u00a0and did play<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
she had so much passion<\/p>\n
and inquisitiveness<\/p>\n
innately she realized<\/p>\n
she did possess<\/p>\n
some understanding<\/p>\n
of primates for she<\/p>\n
was going to Afrika<\/p>\n
and she would see<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
when she left school<\/p>\n
she worked here and there<\/p>\n
got some experience<\/p>\n
earning, aware<\/p>\n
she had to save<\/p>\n
if she wanted to go<\/p>\n
to Afrika that was a her dream<\/p>\n
as we know<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
she sailed to Mombasa<\/p>\n
when just 23<\/p>\n
on her own with her dream<\/p>\n
for it was going to be<\/p>\n
a lifetime for her<\/p>\n
for that’s what she does<\/p>\n
she commits herself fully<\/p>\n
she just had that buzz<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
that emotion that drive<\/p>\n
that spirit the verve<\/p>\n
it took some real courage<\/p>\n
but she had that nerve<\/p>\n
she had that within her<\/p>\n
that spark and that fire<\/p>\n
and Afrika called her<\/p>\n
it was her desire<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
She met Louis Leakey<\/p>\n
a meeting of minds<\/p>\n
the universe brought them<\/p>\n
together<\/p>\n
the finds<\/p>\n
they had between each other<\/p>\n
was \u00a0great<\/p>\n
he was her mentor<\/p>\n
which did then create<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
such a partnership really<\/p>\n
of thoughts and creation<\/p>\n
some might say this was<\/p>\n
her true salvation<\/p>\n
all the time listening<\/p>\n
all the time learning<\/p>\n
all the time passionate<\/p>\n
and so discerning<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
with that basic vision<\/p>\n
and emotional care<\/p>\n
she went off to<\/p>\n
study the Chimapanzees<\/p>\n
there<\/p>\n
near Lake Tanganyika<\/p>\n
the forests there where<\/p>\n
groups clearly lived and died<\/p>\n
where she could share<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
social inter action<\/p>\n
her studies would be<\/p>\n
real and alive for with them<\/p>\n
she could see<\/p>\n
how they lived<\/p>\n
how they played<\/p>\n
their bonds and the way<\/p>\n
their social activity<\/p>\n
helped them each day<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Her mentor was able<\/p>\n
to get her to be<\/p>\n
at Cambridge to get her doctorate<\/p>\n
she<\/p>\n
had no degree but in 3 years or so<\/p>\n
she managed it<\/p>\n
and so now scientifically<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
she would be noticed respected<\/p>\n
we know<\/p>\n
her work with the primates<\/p>\n
her research did grow<\/p>\n
and she was immersed in it<\/p>\n
it was her thing<\/p>\n
she loved what she was doing<\/p>\n
and how it did bring<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
so much satisfaction<\/p>\n
the knowledge was there<\/p>\n
she had to work hard<\/p>\n
but she was so aware<\/p>\n
her patience was amazing<\/p>\n
her observation was keen<\/p>\n
she saw and she felt<\/p>\n
and she learned for she’s been<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
around them she’s almost become one<\/p>\n
for she<\/p>\n
was so fascinated<\/p>\n
she observed them closely<\/p>\n
received their acceptance<\/p>\n
and gave hers to them<\/p>\n
this trust and this bond<\/p>\n
was how it did stem<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
in her heart in their hearts<\/p>\n
she was \u00a0their friend<\/p>\n
and through all of the years<\/p>\n
their rights did defend<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The 3rd day of April 1934<\/p>\n
when she took her first breath<\/p>\n
and knew then what’s more<\/p>\n
Afrika called her that<\/p>\n
song she could hear<\/p>\n
and it has sustained her<\/p>\n
and brought her such cheer<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The Chimpanzees clearly<\/p>\n
have so come to know<\/p>\n
Jane as their mentor<\/p>\n
Jane seemed to know<\/p>\n
so much about them<\/p>\n
and they about her<\/p>\n
for she gave so much to them<\/p>\n
and really they were<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
parts of her family<\/p>\n
thats what she felt<\/p>\n
I am sure in the forest<\/p>\n
sometimes she knelt<\/p>\n
down and just counted her blessings<\/p>\n
for she had believed and achieved<\/p>\n
her true destiny<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
