The kings of the jungle<\/p>\n
magnificent animals<\/p>\n
have reached a level of interest<\/p>\n
from some<\/p>\n
who will shoot them and kill them<\/p>\n
for financial gain<\/p>\n
a cash cow in fact<\/p>\n
and the hum<\/p>\n
of a truck full of poachers<\/p>\n
the bones fetching thousands<\/p>\n
the skin has a value<\/p>\n
the flesh used as \u00a0meat<\/p>\n
what is now remarkable<\/p>\n
Lions have a rarity<\/p>\n
and so do the markets<\/p>\n
which surely unseat<\/p>\n
they grow by the day<\/p>\n
this spectacular earthling<\/p>\n
is needing protection<\/p>\n
its glory and \u00a0power<\/p>\n
has been frittered away<\/p>\n
whats seen as its market<\/p>\n
its value thats rising<\/p>\n
infact every day<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
there may be 300o Lions left<\/p>\n
in the wildness<\/p>\n
another 8000 bred<\/p>\n
to be shot<\/p>\n
this the progression<\/p>\n
and darkness surrounding<\/p>\n
the king of the jungle<\/p>\n
probably now is not<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
for habitat loss<\/p>\n
has taken a great toll<\/p>\n
brought the \u00a0wild souls much closer<\/p>\n
and we<\/p>\n
see a growing \u00a0acceptance<\/p>\n
of capture and slaughter<\/p>\n
and reasons to do it<\/p>\n
are lucratively<\/p>\n
out there<\/p>\n
there’s markets developed<\/p>\n
to do this<\/p>\n
markets established<\/p>\n
at home and abroad<\/p>\n
the Lion once a formidable<\/p>\n
adversorial prospect<\/p>\n
is now easy pickings<\/p>\n
which some can afford<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Lions need protection<\/p>\n
from us<\/p>\n
from our greed<\/p>\n
Lions \u00a0have such value<\/p>\n
and where it does lead<\/p>\n
is to markets and people<\/p>\n
ready to try<\/p>\n
to kill and dismember<\/p>\n
its value is high<\/p>\n
its rarity growing<\/p>\n
a market where we<\/p>\n
see more and more interest<\/p>\n
where more purposefully<\/p>\n
go out of their way<\/p>\n
to involve themselves in<\/p>\n
the business of murder<\/p>\n
perhaps for their skin<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
in the last 50 years<\/p>\n
the great human mind<\/p>\n
has devleoped a liking<\/p>\n
for all it can find<\/p>\n
that can make lots of money<\/p>\n
and establish a way<\/p>\n
to not even think<\/p>\n
what now happens today<\/p>\n
to hunt and to do it<\/p>\n
just for the \u00a0game<\/p>\n
for the infamy<\/p>\n
obvious and for the claim<\/p>\n
that you’ve shot a lion<\/p>\n
that you above all<\/p>\n
with a shot or a bolt<\/p>\n
answered the call<\/p>\n
got the result<\/p>\n
that camaraderie<\/p>\n
that spunk that flows<\/p>\n
where ever the great hunter man<\/p>\n
kind of goes<\/p>\n
in certain quarters<\/p>\n
this lust is there’s<\/p>\n
the Lion though<\/p>\n
is not party<\/p>\n
to those affairs<\/p>\n
he’s now a commodity<\/p>\n
and he’s bought and sold<\/p>\n
and in effect<\/p>\n
worth his weight in gold<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
So protection is sought<\/p>\n
for if he is to be<\/p>\n
around for much longer<\/p>\n
in wild lands to see<\/p>\n
man has to take stock<\/p>\n
has to put up a fight<\/p>\n
against other men<\/p>\n
ready to kill<\/p>\n
yes on sight<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
and that’s where we are<\/p>\n
those who would kill<\/p>\n
and those who would<\/p>\n
fight to save him<\/p>\n
the thrill for them both<\/p>\n
is a thrill they take on<\/p>\n
who wins<\/p>\n
who can say<\/p>\n
till the last Lion has gone<\/p>\n
then we will know<\/p>\n
then we shall see<\/p>\n
and that may be not too far off<\/p>\n
tragically<\/p>\n
