Its a busy old street<\/p>\n
thats called Knightsbridge<\/p>\n
with a lot of foot fall<\/p>\n
I can say<\/p>\n
we were parked left and right<\/p>\n
of their doors<\/p>\n
megaphones blast<\/p>\n
ing away<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
banners and leaflets<\/span><\/p>\n and repetitive chants<\/p>\n and we kept them all<\/p>\n up through the day<\/p>\n Robert \u00a0positioned himself by their<\/p>\n door<\/p>\n with me to his right<\/p>\n let us say<\/p>\n <\/p>\n then a long banner<\/p>\n held by some friends<\/p>\n giving it welly for sure<\/p>\n <\/p>\n all sorts of people were passing<\/p>\n some in fur coats<\/p>\n but most thought<\/p>\n it wasn’t so nice to be wearing<\/p>\n them<\/p>\n some seem embarrassed<\/p>\n and sought<\/p>\n refuge by crossing out into the road<\/p>\n and others were blatant<\/p>\n but they<\/p>\n still seemed uneasy<\/p>\n and some clearly shocked<\/p>\n so I thought, in fact,<\/p>\n we’d done okay<\/p>\n we moved them<\/p>\n and lots gave the thumbs up<\/p>\n the buses the tour buses too<\/p>\n lots took our photo’s<\/p>\n and lots had a laugh<\/p>\n because we all did<\/p>\n what we had to do<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Rob and I read out a long article<\/p>\n and Rob took the stage<\/p>\n so did I<\/p>\n we sang out our messages<\/p>\n one after the other<\/p>\n despite \u00a0a<\/p>\n a cold wind<\/p>\n and a \u00a0blue sky<\/p>\n <\/p>\n there were others callers<\/p>\n we all stuck to our task<\/p>\n no let up at all<\/p>\n and we found<\/p>\n with all of that shouting<\/p>\n my voice soon gave out<\/p>\n I began to get raspy<\/p>\n the sound<\/p>\n faltering slightly<\/p>\n but others took up the challenge<\/p>\n and we<\/p>\n without a doubt<\/p>\n carried the shout<\/p>\n I think we all did fabulously<\/p>\n <\/p>\n at about 5.30<\/span><\/p>\n a lightening flash<\/span><\/p>\n lit up the street<\/span><\/p>\n and we knew<\/span><\/p>\n either the angels were<\/span><\/p>\n coming to join us<\/span><\/p>\n then a \u00a0great clap of thunder came too<\/span><\/p>\n then we were hit by a hail storm<\/span><\/p>\n no locusts just hard bits of snow\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n deciding to give up the protest<\/p>\n at that point we all had to go<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n I suggested the directors were upstairs<\/p>\n tossing the snow \u00a0from the sky<\/p>\n thats when my teeth started \u00a0chattering so<\/p>\n and I thought I would break down and cry<\/p>\n but stiff upper lip we collected our things<\/p>\n and ran around the corner<\/p>\n to see<\/p>\n if there was shelter<\/p>\n there wasn’t<\/p>\n I shook hands with all their security<\/p>\n <\/p>\n amicable they were \u00a0all through the day<\/p>\n they stood and opened their doors<\/p>\n some people\u00a0braved \u00a0our rants<\/span><\/p>\n and \u00a0they got through<\/p>\n today not a lot<\/p>\n but that didn’t matter<\/p>\n we got to the task<\/p>\n we didn’t chatter<\/p>\n kept up the chanting<\/p>\n they knew we were there<\/p>\n and I think we got results<\/p>\n we drove them spare<\/p>\n <\/p>\n it just goes to show<\/p>\n just a few avid souls<\/p>\n can get to a big store<\/p>\n with all its controls<\/p>\n and make lots of noise<\/p>\n and deliver the case<\/p>\n and appeal to a lot of folk<\/p>\n yea with good grace<\/p>\n <\/p>\n and we did and we did get through<\/p>\n lots turned away<\/p>\n some smiled a lot<\/p>\n and talked they did say<\/p>\n they agreed with us<\/p>\n what we did was okay<\/p>\n reminding them all<\/p>\n fur is cruel all the way<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Its a busy old street thats called Knightsbridge with a lot of foot fall I can say we were parked left and right of their doors megaphones blast ing away banners and leaflets and repetitive chants and we kept … Continue reading
