{"id":136,"date":"2011-11-14T18:29:57","date_gmt":"2011-11-14T18:29:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/?p=136"},"modified":"2011-11-14T18:29:57","modified_gmt":"2011-11-14T18:29:57","slug":"go-out-and-be-a-christmas-angel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/2011\/11\/go-out-and-be-a-christmas-angel\/","title":{"rendered":"Go out and be a Christmas angel"},"content":{"rendered":"<div align=\"center\">Christmas mean&#8217;t<br \/>\nthat Dad went to the attic<br \/>\nA Dusty box of decor<br \/>\nhe brought down<br \/>\nAncient silver papered<br \/>\nchocolate snowmen<br \/>\nAnd lantern lights,<br \/>\nan angel, and a clown<br \/>\n<!--more-->Decorations<br \/>\nstill some had the pins in,<br \/>\nfaded a bit, certainly thats<br \/>\ntrue<br \/>\nEvery year they come down<br \/>\nfrom the attic<br \/>\nAnd when put up<br \/>\nthey look as good as new<\/p>\n<p>Dad comes back with the tree<br \/>\nIts green and lovely<br \/>\nIts needles smell so<br \/>\nmuch of country air<br \/>\nI will help to deck<br \/>\nthe tree with tinsel<br \/>\nI love Christmas<br \/>\nits a good time to share<br \/>\nMy Mum loves a chocolate<br \/>\nand Gin and Orange, she<br \/>\nDad would have a<br \/>\nglass of Lemon Hart<br \/>\nand I would be<br \/>\nOpening my presents<br \/>\nSomething Dad had made<br \/>\nan orange, and an apple<br \/>\nand some R Whites Lemonade<\/p>\n<p>This happened to me once<br \/>\nNow I&#8217;m a grocer<br \/>\nI sell only organic food, and I<br \/>\nSource it from the Cooperatives<br \/>\na little caring businesses<br \/>\nThe individual Gal or even Guy<br \/>\nTheir struggling<br \/>\nagainst the Corporations<br \/>\nLaundering their filth<br \/>\non virgin soil<br \/>\nThe pioneers<br \/>\nare falling by the wayside<br \/>\nIts enough to make a<br \/>\nblooming saints heart boil<\/p>\n<p>In another few years<br \/>\nI will join my parents<br \/>\nLeave this world of arrogance<br \/>\nand pain<br \/>\nBut I do remember<br \/>\nChristmas in a good light<br \/>\nAnd I hope and pray<br \/>\nthat Peace prevails again<br \/>\nHow sad I feel<br \/>\nfor the new souls<br \/>\nwe call children<br \/>\nWho must take up<br \/>\nthe mantle we have left<br \/>\nA world of stark pollution,<br \/>\nis there a solution?<br \/>\nThe poorest of the poor<br \/>\nare still bereft<\/p>\n<p>Their children<br \/>\nstill cannot afford mosquito nets<br \/>\nAnd so they suffer agony and pain<br \/>\nThe richer folk would rather turn their heads away<br \/>\nAnd seek much cheaper prices<br \/>\nand more gain<br \/>\nThat we now as a people<br \/>\nhave to buy into<br \/>\nFAIR TRADE, see that finger<br \/>\npointing back<br \/>\nAt those of us<br \/>\nwho support these Global Giants<br \/>\nWho exploit us all<br \/>\nwith their sustained attack<br \/>\nWe buy into their world<br \/>\ntheir world of additives<br \/>\nPolluting precious habitats<br \/>\nat will<br \/>\nWe tie the death knot firmly to our shoulders<br \/>\nIn hock to the banks<br \/>\ninfact until<br \/>\nAlmost we have no breath<br \/>\nleft to fight them<br \/>\nAnd then we pass<br \/>\nonto another plain<br \/>\nIt happened to me once<br \/>\nI saw an angel<br \/>\nIn Mexico<br \/>\nshe was working in the rain<br \/>\nPicking Peppers<br \/>\nover head I saw it<br \/>\nA Plane<br \/>\ngushing a silver noxious spray<br \/>\nAn American was using<br \/>\nso much pesticide<br \/>\nAnd he sprayed<br \/>\nall of the workers<br \/>\non that day<br \/>\nChildren, and Grand Parents they were<br \/>\nBeautiful,<br \/>\ngenerous, and loving every one<br \/>\nThey treated me with respect and with kindness<br \/>\nAnd didn&#8217;t understand what he had done<\/p>\n<p>It happened to me once I saw an angel<br \/>\nShe helped me when my legs were tired and worn<br \/>\nShe had come from Canberra, originally from Quito<br \/>\nEcuador the place she had been born<br \/>\nThere are these angels everywhere and we should<br \/>\nBe inspired by what they choose to do<br \/>\nWe have a wondrous planet full of miracles<br \/>\nSo go out and be Angels all of you<span style=\"font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
