Aunty flo had whiskers<\/p>\n
I thought she was a man<\/p>\n
she was one of my dad’s sisters<\/p>\n
but I never was a fan<\/p>\n

she wore these dark brown stockings<\/p>\n
half way up her shin<\/p>\n
and had a very curious look<\/p>\n
and a very funny grin<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I must have been about 3<\/p>\n
when with my mum and dad<\/p>\n
I use to go to Lewisham<\/p>\n
and it always made me sad<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
we caught the bus \u00a0a 36<\/p>\n
down Sangley Road then to<\/p>\n
Lewisham<\/p>\n
we walked along<\/p>\n
passed the shop Cabledew<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
it sold all sorts of instruments<\/p>\n
drums and real guitars<\/p>\n
I was fascinated<\/p>\n
the bosses had great cars<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I would knock on Grannies door<\/p>\n
and ring the big brass bell<\/p>\n
into a big tiled hall we went<\/p>\n
and stayed there for a spell<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
the floor had painted flowers on it<\/p>\n
we walked over them and went<\/p>\n
into what was a great big room<\/p>\n
someone there had spent<\/p>\n
quite a lot of money making it look bright<\/p>\n
gran and gran pa and Aunty<\/p>\n
would stand there without light<\/p>\n
we would have<\/p>\n
a cup of tea<\/p>\n
I never \u00a0drank it I<\/p>\n
hated tea with all that milk<\/p>\n
for it was’nt good for me<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
grandpa had a mop of white hair<\/p>\n
and a ruddy face<\/p>\n
Grandma was a tiny soul<\/p>\n
she wore a lot of lace<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
she was always by her gas cooker<\/p>\n
it was blue and grey<\/p>\n
I used to watch her cooking<\/p>\n
cakes on a black tray<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
sometimes she’d turn and give me one<\/p>\n
a broken one maybe<\/p>\n
it tasted sweet with sultana’s<\/p>\n
if Aunty Flo did see<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
me eating cakes she’d be miserable<\/p>\n
as to the reason why<\/p>\n
I never ever found out<\/p>\n
then one day she did die<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
so I never really knew her<\/p>\n
