A mare with her foal
\nwere being unloaded along with some others
\ninto a field
\nthis happened in Wicklow on Sunday
\ninside the truck she concealed
\nherself she just wouldn’t come forward
\nand go to the field not at all
\nsome energy clearly she must have picked up on
\nshe was there for the long haul
\nbut the handlers were not
\nthey were eager
\nto get shot of her in a flash
\nthey punched and the pummelled her
\nbut she wouldn’t move
\nso they treated her like so much trash
\nthey got in the van and drove forward
\nshe catapulted right out
\nthey then set about her kicking and punching
\ntrying to hurt her no doubt
\nthis was a mare with her baby
\nin front of her baby they beat
\nbruised her and cut her and made her cry out
\nand stomped very hard on her feet
\nbrave louts these yobs from the gutter
\nto take their frustrations on her
\nto hurt her so much she had to be killed
\nand her foal has these thoughts now to stir
\ninside him forever
\nimagine the pain of seeing your mother attacked
\nseeing her beaten hearing her crying
\nknowing that it was a fact
\nthese yobs from where ever
\nthey thought they were clever
\nthey beat up a mother
\nprotecting her foal
\nwhat ignorant brutes
\nbarbaric off shoots
\ntrolls clearly without a soul
\nthe gardai are making enquiries
\nthere’s quite a reward for those who
\ncarried out this vile and darkest of crimes
