It isn’t only rumours
\nwe are those consumers
\nwe are killing animals
\nand eating them today
\nso its us that is the market
\nwe create the need
\nwe tell ourselves without
\ntheir flesh
\nthat we cannot succeed<\/p>\n
we lie to ourselves everyday
\nso that animals can be
\nraised in concentration camps
\nand eaten merrily
\nthis is what we are doing
\nthis is what we say
\nwe teach our children to
\nhunt and trap
\nand eat them anyway<\/p>\n
where is our compassion
\nthese are living souls
\nthey are weaker than us of course
\nbut then it tests our roles
\nshould we not be thinking
\nshould we not then say
\nwe must now protect them
\nnot make them with their bodies pay<\/p>\n
take the humble chicken
\nas we chew, on its meat
\nthat was its living body
\nwe are no more discreet
\nwe call for murder and mayhem
\nwe truck them to their death
\nwe do not feed or water them
\nbefore we deny them breath<\/p>\n
and people
\npeople just like us
\nmake money from it all
\nproducing chickens
\nproducing eggs
\nproducing bodies
\nthe wall
\nis long and bloodied
\nby the time
\nChristmas comes around
\nwhen billions of birds are slaughtered
\nare we this unsound?<\/p>\n
don’t we feel their agony
\ncant we hear their cries
\nas one man takes a chicken
\nand strangles it
\nthe lies
\nwe tell ourselves
\nwhilst queueing
\nto pick up the butterball
\nor the capon or the ruddy goose
\nor the turkey
\nthat we haul<\/p>\n
back home and we cook it
\nand we stuff its arse with meat
\nand we feed it to our children
\nmaking the cycle complete
\nwhere is our compassion
\nfor those souls that we do share
\nplanet earth every day
\nare we not aware<\/p>\n
as long as we have concentration camps
\npacked full of souls
\nwho we torture and we murder
\nwe are finished
\nno amount of goals
\nwill ever be available
\nall the while we let
\nevery kind of creature
\ndie in the trawlers net<\/p>\n
we hunt them for their skin and fur
\nfor furs and leather, we
\nkill and maim these creatures
\nnot to eat but to wear
\nwe be
\nso vile and not compassionate
\nand expect the universe
\nto protect us from the holocaust
\nbut of course it all gets worse<\/p>\n
wars rage every which way
\nin war we’re told we kill
\nkill another living human being
\nwe instil
\nthat belief in people
\nchildren they die too
\ngrief and anger surfaces
\nmaybe, even with you<\/p>\n
where is our compassion
\nwhy do we feel the need
\nto expect another living human being
\nto succeed
\nby killing the great animals
\nlike pigs and cows and sheep
\nmurder them in cold blood
\nand fail to hear them weep<\/p>\n
we tell ourselves they have no feelings
\nwe say they do not cry
\nwe let our fellow man do things
\nto them until they die
\nhung up drawn and quartered
\nin immense agony
\nso we can celebrate at home
\nwith a nice fat rich turkey<\/p>\n
where is our compassion
\nwhere is it what’s gone wrong
\nuntil we save the animals
\nwe clearly don’t belong
\nin a world of perfection
\nwhere every living soul
\nis happy being itself
