{"id":12615,"date":"2013-11-30T20:49:12","date_gmt":"2013-11-30T20:49:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/?p=12615"},"modified":"2013-11-30T21:03:53","modified_gmt":"2013-11-30T21:03:53","slug":"burma-looking-for-signs-of-elephant-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/2013\/11\/burma-looking-for-signs-of-elephant-life\/","title":{"rendered":"Burma  ( Looking for signs of elephant life)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Burma  a natural lost kingdom<br \/>\nforests as far as the eye<br \/>\ncan see and beyond dense<br \/>\nand so green<br \/>\nreach right up to the sky<br \/>\nbamboo dense patches and creepers<br \/>\nall sorts of trees  rich and tall<br \/>\nthere&#8217;s wild banana and such vegetation<br \/>\nbeautiful untouched its all<br \/>\namazing a team of good people<br \/>\nare out there assessing it all<br \/>\nand will be reporting to the Burmese  government<br \/>\nanswering really a call<\/p>\n<p>other great forests in Asia<br \/>\nmost of its cut down and gone<br \/>\nall of that natural magic<br \/>\nthat once really was out upon<br \/>\nthe environment bursting with life forms<br \/>\nnow most of that is blown away<br \/>\nand all of the animals that once were there<br \/>\nhave disappeared now well today<br \/>\nthere may be a few in the desolate parts<br \/>\nbut the bulk have been lost probably<br \/>\nfor all time that&#8217;s the ignorance<br \/>\nthey have displayed<br \/>\npaper and palm oil now be<\/p>\n<p>the team have a short time to find out<br \/>\nif there are elephants here<br \/>\nhopeful a breeding herd might be around<br \/>\nto find them would help them to clear<br \/>\nup any queries and help them<br \/>\nto safeguard the forests for they<br \/>\nare creating a place where the elephants breed<br \/>\nAsian Elephants well that would say<\/p>\n<p>the forests need special attention<br \/>\n50 years they have stood calm<br \/>\nwhilst Asia denuded its forests<br \/>\nBurma kept all of that charm<br \/>\nand peering into its dense apron<br \/>\nand feeling and hearing those sounds<br \/>\nthis is virgin jungle this is pure excitement<br \/>\neverywhere seemed out of bounds<\/p>\n<p>but there was a growing frustration<br \/>\nthey were looking for breeding herds, and<br \/>\nin this dense forest, it is hard to spot them<br \/>\nand it isn&#8217;t hard, to understand<br \/>\nthese elephants keep very private<br \/>\nthey move very fast and can be<br \/>\nunder the thickest of cover<br \/>\nso they really are  quite hard to see<\/p>\n<p>but evidence was mounting clearly<br \/>\nfresh dung and plants all knocked flat<br \/>\nand then in that moment they seemed so unsure of<br \/>\nthere they were, they were just at<br \/>\nthe ridge ovre 10 of them females and calves<br \/>\nevidence they wanted so<br \/>\na Matriach and her 2 daughters<br \/>\nand grand daughters too so they know<\/p>\n<p>the forest is really sustainable<br \/>\nand more than one herd are around<br \/>\nthat being the case<br \/>\nthrough the entire forest<br \/>\nmany more likely are found<br \/>\nthis was the evidence they needed<br \/>\nto take back to the government who<br \/>\npromised to  study their findings<br \/>\nand hopefully they will be too<\/p>\n<p>for the forests will need some protection<br \/>\nfrom the corporate world who would come<br \/>\nand tear down the forest and re plant palm oil<br \/>\nor log out the trees which is dumb<br \/>\nin Malaysia and Indonesia, we know<br \/>\nmuch of the forest is lost<br \/>\nlogged out dramatically with not much to show<br \/>\nsuch magic has probably cost<br \/>\nthe synergy clearly what&#8217;s left is a lifeless<br \/>\nimbalanced polluted mess<br \/>\nthe whole of the ambience totally wasted<br \/>\nand left really with no redress<\/p>\n<p>the elephants create the environment<br \/>\nand other sweet earthlings abound<br \/>\none hopes that the regime in Burma will think<br \/>\nand not go back over old ground<br \/>\nnot follow the Asian experience<br \/>\nbar corporates from the place<br \/>\nfor they just destroy they never employ<br \/>\nand what&#8217;s left is just a disgrace<\/p>\n<p>one hopes that this natural lost kingdom<br \/>\nwill be that lost kingdom for years<br \/>\nand Burma will cherish what is its great forests<br \/>\nand preserve them for hundreds of years<br \/>\nif she does then this haven will prosper<br \/>\nand the elephants clearly will be<br \/>\ngiven the chance to rebuild their numbers<br \/>\nfor our children and their children to see<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Burma a natural lost kingdom forests as far as the eye can see and beyond dense and so green reach right up to the sky bamboo dense patches and creepers all sorts of trees rich and tall there&#8217;s wild banana &hellip;
