I dare not close my eyes
\nfor fear of missing you
\nits easy in the night time hours to be
\ndreaming of some journey to another world
\nand miss that look that might just
\nbe for me
\nI laid my head sort of on the pillow
\nand looked out at the blackness
\nthat was night
\nthere was an eerie silence in the forest
\nwhere an owl was hooting somewhere from a height<\/p>\n
a golden moon hung gently just above the trees
\nand shone down on us, as the woods took on a glow
\neyes peered from every thicket
\noffering up a ticket
\nto somewhere so sublime
\nwhere we could go<\/p>\n
clearly our warm breath sent airy spirals
\nout into the forest which did climb
\nup into the tree tops to help to glaze the branches
\nit was where the frost emerged and time
\nmade the air much colder even powdery
\nand we mortals wrapped in Gothic dress
\nswam into the perils of the moment
\nas gently to ourselves we did confess<\/p>\n
at being rather frightened by the blackness
\nby the starkness by the curdling refrain
\nthe wind was coming up from the dark places
\ncutting into both of us again
\nthat’s really when our clothes felt a bit flimsy
\nand left our bodies feeling rather cold
\nI held her hand it was about as cold as mine
\nin many ways I knew that I was sold<\/p>\n
on her for she was everything I ever loved
\nnot very tall but strong and full of zest
\nshe could run and climb and jump
\nshe was really special
\nreally almost up to any test<\/p>\n
we got out of that wood it took us several hours
\nbut she was the inspiration in my soul
\nher warm hand on mine just kind of really kept me going
\nhelped me in a way to just control
\nthe nerves a bit for when the wind goes crazy
\nbeing in a forest dark and wild
\ncan really put the wind up you I have to say
\nbut with her she was really the wild child<\/p>\n
able to concoct a meal of sorts she could
\nshe foraged and we kept our spirits high
\nI love her for her fortitude and caring
\nwe got out of there in essence which is why
\nI love to be around her for life matters
\nin the darkest moments we could be
\nable to keep going our emotions
