I am Ranec, a crane from Yakutia
\nThat was, the place where I was born
\nHot in the summer, cold in the winter
\nAnd that’s why in April we’re drawn
\nBack to the great Arctic Tundra
\nWhere Black Cranes and Eagles do ply
\nWhere the marshlands are rich with mosses and plants
\nA vast land that so truly, enchants<\/p>\n

In Winter great malevolent clouds
\ncome along
\nAnd with them great masses of snow
\nA more ferocious time, there isn’t a rhyme
\nOr reason, for the storms that do blow
\nAnd its so dark, the sun well just sleeps all day there
\nAnd food is as scarce as can be
\nSo the need is to winter and of course where I winter
\nIs in Iran where Lone Wolf I can see<\/p>\n

He is one of those sensitive humans
\nA kind and considerate soul
\nUsing his camera to shoot us
\nNot those terrible fire sticks that bowl
\nUs over, to torture and tear us
\nThe vile ones whose features are rough
\nThey are known as hunters, who indiscriminately kill
\nand reckon themselves to be tough<\/p>\n

They stand with their dogs clearly starving
\nWe do see their ribs from great heights
\nThey shoot us and kill us some left
\nwhere they fall,
\nthat’s when all of our days become nights
\nI am incredibly endangered
\nJust me, Old Ranec just me
\nIn April I hope to get back to my home
\nBut I might get shot down possibly<\/p>\n

There are some 3000, who winter in China
\nBut they have a big problem too
\nThe 3 Gorges Dam is causing a jam
\nAnd many don’t know what to do
\nThe plants we need grow in the wetlands
\nAnd clearly its habitat loss
\nBringing the threat of disaster
\nFor some humans do not care a toss<\/p>\n

Fereydoon Kenar, I like it
\nA resort on the Caspian Sea
\nIt has wonderful fresh plants
\nand lots of sweet weeds
\nAll chlorophyl rich so they be
\nNutritious a memorable supplement
\nBalanced, they do keep me strong
\nAnd I do find they suit my digestion
\nand all in all that can’t be wrong<\/p>\n

Last year 3 of my companions
\nFollowed me here but, yes they
\nAll met their maker
\nAnd died as you do
\nSo I’m the last one left today
\nIts awful to think, that when I die
\nThat will be it for the race
\nBut human’s appear so uncaring
\nand ignorant too, so I face<\/p>\n

The next few years hoping to find
\nher
\nA lady with whom I can mate
\nI am sure she is out there
\nI am looking so hard
\nAnd to find her would now just be great
\nMy snowy white feathers are handsome
\nWith black primaries seen from the sky
\nand a naked red face
\nWe fly high with some grace
\nAnd the last thing I want, is to die<\/p>\n
