A phone call
\njust a voice
\nand off we set
\nto find
\na victim
\nthey are everywhere of course
\nbut this one was enough to blow
\nour mind
\nin amongst the roadside brooms
\nthe clutter the graffiti
\nwe
\nsaw this little curly soul
\nstaring rather aimlessly<\/p>\n
crouching down not being noticed
\njust a lonely child
\ndismissed by all and sundry
\nbut clearly meek and mild
\nwe took a closer look at her
\nher hair was in her eyes
\nbut we could say that she was blind
\nthat we did realise<\/p>\n
sitting in the darkness
\naware of life beyond
\nfrightened the unknowing noises
\nher loneliness a bond
\nof sorts she was aware of us
\nand in a towel I took
\nher little body carefully
\nwithin herself she shook<\/p>\n
on the way back we called her
\n“Fiona” that was her name
\nand brought her into our house
\nflea ridden to exclaim
\nanything but wonder
\nfor her body was racked and sore
\nthe flea’s had had their way with her
\nlike we’d never seen before<\/p>\n
we shaved those parts that were very bad
\nand washed her liberally
\nand she became our favourite
\nshe bounced about and we
\ntook her to see Michael Chang
\nthe surgeon and he said
\nhe could make one eye better
\nand had and we have fed<\/p>\n
her well and she is wonderful
\nshe has responded to
\nthe love we showered all over her
\nit shows you what love can do
\nand how she gives some love back
\nher loyalty is so sweet
\nand now she’s been adopted
\nand by now she is bound to greet
\nher new sweet family people
\nits a story of love and care
\none little dog was saved
