There were lots of young trainers
\nexcited so clearly
\nto have a job training
\nthe Orca’s
\nfor they
\nwere the black and white
\nmammals who grew to a great size
\nall highly intelligent
\nthat’s what they say<\/p>\n
all of those trainers
\nhad almost no knowledge
\nof what made an Orca tick
\nall that they knew
\nwas they wanted in
\nto the programme at Sea World
\nthe crowds and the dynamics
\nit sort of drew<\/p>\n
they wanted to step up
\nthe relationship package
\nwas high on their list
\nthey could then interact
\nthis was the real special
\ndraw for those trainers
\nthis in a nutshell
\nreally was fact<\/p>\n
things happened they always do
\nbut overcome with the
\nshow must go on, and excitement to be
\npart of of it all
\nit just kind of did it
\nfor them they were going along
\nthey could see<\/p>\n
looking into their eyes
\nwhen you do it you feel it
\nthere was something profound
\nlooking straight back at you
\na whole host of miracles
\nwere then created
\nyou really felt joyous
\nas did the whole crew<\/p>\n
back in 1970 on Puget sound
\nthe boats they were tracking
\nthe pod and they found
\na family were heading
\nsomewhere’s all were free
\nand the Sea World Boats
\nhounded them
\nand frantically<\/p>\n
they surfaced and one group
\nthe females and youngsters
\nwent off to the North
\non a detour to try
\nand save them the males carried on
\nthey were drawing them
\nbut anyhow Sea World caught up with them
\nwhy?<\/p>\n
they were after the babies
\nthey wanted their babies
\nand so it was clear in the water that day
\ngreat stress was recorded
\nand they were rewarded
\nthey captured the orca’s
\nbut 3 had to pay<\/p>\n
with their lives and they rallied
\nthe pod came to be there
\nnone of them left
\nthough they could have, but they
\nhave this innate love of their own
\nspecial species
\nand would sacrifice everything
\neven they’d pay<\/p>\n
with their lives that’s love
\nof a special kind really
\ntheir brainpower remarkable
\nsuch a deep bond
\nwith each other
\nthat’s part of their brain
\nhow they function
\nand really the human
\nshowed that he had conned<\/p>\n
them which they were up to
\nand they would remember
\nsome of the trainers recalling
\nthe scene
\nwere noticeably moved
\nby the stressful occasion
\nmany lost tears
\nit was something serene<\/p>\n
there had been some accidents
\nthat’s what they called them
\nbut clearly great mammals
\nin concrete tanks do
\nsuffer frustration
\nand so little elation
\nbut suffer in silence
\nwhich just isn’t new<\/p>\n
its was just that the corporation
\nwasn’t listening
\nif it was it was hiding
\nit hoped things would pass
\nbut killings did occur
\naggression was out there
\nthe black fish was seething
\ninherently dangerous
\nall of them were<\/p>\n
sheer boredom is evident
\nplucked from deep oceans
\nand sunk in a concrete tank
\ndead to the world
\nnothing alive in there
\nnothing resembling
\nwhere they had come from
\nand where they were hurled<\/p>\n
this small sterile soup bowl
\nthe stench of their bodies
\nno doubt they could fathom
\nno doubt they could feel
\ncramped up and frustrated
\nand feeling sedated
\nthough cleverly able
\nto well just conceal<\/p>\n
many mistakes have surfaced
\nfor certain
\narrogance took charge
\nand sales hit a high
\nall the peripheral and profitable
\nmascots
\ndepended on shows going well
\nwhich was why<\/p>\n
they covered up all sorts
\nof mishaps and murders
\njust called them accidents.
\ndidn’t release
\nwhat the full truth was
\nand managed to ride it
\nit was about business
\nand keeping the peace <\/p>\n
looking back over the years
\nwe heard stories
\ndifferent interpretations than before
\nnothing had been learned
\nfrom one to another
\nhow those that died died
\nand really what for<\/p>\n
initially it was the trainers
\nown fault
\nthat way they got out of
\nso much duress
\nthe show had to go on
\nit was the business
\nso what! if really there was
\nloads of stress<\/p>\n
the black fish were clearly
\nupset with their life style
\ntheir cramped up conditions
\nthe acts, and it all
\nthese are intelligent truthfully sharing
\ninto themselves knowing
\nwho they can call<\/p>\n
when a baby was taken away
\nfrom its mother
\nshe cried like a banshee
\nfor days as we know
\nit happens when mothers are split up from their
\nbabies
\nthey are beside themselves
\nit isn’t a show<\/p>\n
its a gut crushing symphony
\nthat they share with us
\npitched to beyond
\nthat cuts to the core
\nthe great lamentation
\nthe need to continue
\nto be with the youngster
\nfor well evermore<\/p>\n
more acts of aggression
\nperhaps a procession
\nall gently ironed over
\nand left in the air
\nTilikums sperm being
\nused for the rest of them
\nhis special formula
\nwho was aware<\/p>\n
Sea World and all these parks
\nthese corporations
\ncan’t see the anger
\nthe futility
\nthe pain and the suffering
\nthe boredom created
\nnon one was prepared
\nfor the hostility<\/p>\n
clearly its out there
\nthe Orca’S THE WILD ONES
\nshould never be holed up in tanks of this sort
\nto see a wild pod in the ocean is moving
\nit brings back those memories
\nclearly they caught<\/p>\n
in the throats of those trainers
\ntheir eyes were all tearful
\nthey choked as their spirit
\nrecounted the pain
\nthe darkness that bends light
\nand sucks up the feeling
\nclearly the time spent
\nin Sea World does drain<\/p>\n
Tilikum clearly has mulled over much
\nas he waits and he ponders
\nand wonders why he
\nis still stuck in Florida
\nstill such frustration
\nhow he’s been exploited
\nall this he can see<\/p>\n
and we all have to feel for his
\ntime in this hell hole
\nwe all have to realise
\nwhat he’s gone through
\nhe needs his release
\njust sometime in the ocean
\nbut he is a sperm bank
\nso what can we do<\/p>\n
we can sign the petitions
\nand go on long missions
\nget stars to speak up for him
\nwrite every day
\nwe can work to advise people
\ngoing to Sea world
\nthat what they are doing
\nit isn’t a way<\/p>\n
that these wonderful creatures
\nshould never be treated
\nthe deaths that occurred
\nwere likely and they
\nperished in agony treated like
\ndolls
\nbroken and left
\nin the light of the day<\/p>\n
now what we learned is that black fish
\nand others
\nshould never be trapped
\nthey should stay in the sea
\nthat’s where they were put
\nby the greatest creation
\nto maintain their freedom
