Just 9 years on earth
\na child just a soul
\nbeginning life’s path
\nchoosing that role
\ncreation is marvellous
\nlight appears so
\nthen in an instant
\nwhere does it go
\ninto a neighbours
\nback garden
\nto where a dog in a cage
\nsits there in despair
\nhe would like to run with a ball
\nin the field
\nbut in sted he’s locked up
\nand somewhat concealed<\/p>\n
Just 9 years on earth
\nan innocence shines
\nwould he want to pat the dog
\narn’t they the signs
\nyou’d expect from a child
\nI know, curiously
\nhe peers into the cage
\nwaiting to see
\nhow the little dog re acts
\nclearly with joy
\napparently he has
\nseen this little boy<\/p>\n
then something untoward
\nhappens, for we
\nsee a match is then lit
\nby the boy
\nsuddenly
\nthe dog’s bed’s alight
\nthe dog’s alight too
\nhe is burning the dog
\nand its cries
\ngo right through<\/p>\n
the soul of those hearing
\nbut the boy seemingly
\nis just unaware
\nand just dreamingly
\nwalks back imagining
\nits all a game
\nas the dog is engulfed
\nby the swell of the flame<\/p>\n
needless to say the dog
\nwas badly burned
\nthe boy really didn’t
\nseem very concerned
\njust 9 years and in that time
\nclearly such wrath
\nhad turned what we thought
\ninto a psychopath
\nagregious pain was dolled out
\nto a mite
\nwho wrestled and was tangled
\nin the flames there
\nal’right
\nextensive burns and terrile pain
\nand a nine year old did this
\nwith a kink in his brain<\/p>\n
the little dog injured
\nbut was to pull through
\nthe boy clearly troubled
\nwhat could he do
\narrested of course
\nbut so very young
\nwas it seen as some game
\nor perhaps the first rung
\non the ladder to killing
\nthe animal kind
\nand who knows a human
\nit could be enshrined
\nin his heart or his mind
\nthat anything goes
\njust roast it alive
