The very thought of circus
\nconjures up a space
\na ring of sand
\na ringmaster
\nthe trapeze
\nlets understand
\nthe thought of several elephants
\ncrammed into a yard
\nand left all day to ponder
\nfor them life is so hard<\/p>\n
this is a wild creature
\nwhose memory is long
\nwho recalls the march
\nfor water
\nwho knows now just how wrong
\nit is locked up in circus
\nremembering those days
\nwhen training with the bullhooks
\ncreated this malaise<\/p>\n
Circus clearly countermands
\nthe order of the day
\nlife exists in limbo
\nand the elephants just pay
\ntheir innocence is compromised
\ntheir soul urge shot away
\nprisoners of the ignorant
\nwho expect them to play<\/p>\n
at tricks and futile dancing steps
\nit draws down such distress
\nits complete dereliction
\nthat the circus won’t confess
\nand for that there must be protest
\nwe must fight to change the law
\nwild animals must never be included
\nthats for sure
\nin any entertainment programme
\nbloody anywhere
\nwhether Sea world, Coles or Ringling
