C<\/span>hildren seem to love the snow
\nThey slide about
\nUp and down hills
\nNo concern for falling down
\nConfident in their own skills<\/p>\n

Now, me to venture out in this
\nIs something i would rather miss
\nFor me to fall, as I well might
\nAnd be in hospital tonight<\/p>\n

My cats don’t like the snow that much
\nWalking on it, well its such
\nA cold white, substance and they feel
\nThreatened by it
\nCan’t conceal,<\/p>\n

their emotions
\nNot as canny apparently
\nTheir leaping mechanism key
\nSteve Austin used to see a wall
\nAnd leap over it, if you recall<\/p>\n

All my cats do this and can
\nWalk across the wall, that plan
\nIs scotched with all the snow about<\/p>\n

It seems to somehow cause them all to doubt<\/p>\n

They stay indoors close to the heat
\nDespite fur coats, its for them a treat
\nTo cuddle the boiler, or sit in the hearth
\nA throwback to their tropical path<\/p>\n

Childrens voices are melodic
\nEach one happy with the day<\/a>
\nHopeful that they get the chance
\nTo do some sledging anyway<\/p>\n

60 years or so ago
\nMy mates and me would play snowballs
\nSling them across the road and hit
\nThe postman when he made his calls<\/p>\n

Toss them against the walls and trees
\nSee the print it left behind
\nAnd often it just seems to freeze
\nLike explosions in our mind<\/p>\n

Its funny earlier this morning
\nHearing the children voices, I
\nrecalled the time back<\/a> in the Fifties
\nWhen much snow fell from the sky<\/p>\n

The school was closed, Our pipes were frozen
\nThere were no trains that day
\nDad took us up to Mountsfield Park
\nWhere we just loved to play.
\n
