For 9 long months the mother
\ncarries her baby, she
\nthus is so very concerned
\nwhen its born successfully
\nand is taken on that very day
\nits is tragic for the cow
\nshe clearly loves her baby
\nand we must now ask how
\nthe farmer feels so powerless
\nthe farmer brings on woe
\nthe farmer due to profit
\njust cuts off the flow
\nof love from calf to mother
\nby taking the calf away
\nso that it cannot drink
\nits natural food and therefore pay
\nattention to its mother
\nwhose milk is clearly there
\nbut the farmer wants to sell it
\nto me and you, aware
\nthat the calf might get a liking
\nfor its mother milk and so
\nits separated straight away
\noff it has to go
\nand this is diabolical whatever faremers say
\nthey make out they have reasons
\nand the cow and calf can pay
\nand of course they have no feeling
\nhow could they anyway
\nof how the mother misses
\nher baby from that day<\/p>\n
the mother can start lowing
\nits an errie sylph like sound
\nhaunting and lamenting
\na lot of people found
\nod mythical dimensions
\nin a run up to Halloween
\nhaunting and uncanny
\nthese adjectives have been
\nused by local residents
\nwho were worried when they heard
\nthese strange cries of affection
\nthat soon after occured
\nfarmers give their reasons
\nI choose to disregard
\nclearly its a mother
\nwho has been working hard
\ntpprovide the base nutrition
\nonly to find that she
\nis separated from her calf
\nand cries incessantly
\nshe’s beside herself with worry
\nfor her special little soul
\nwho needs her base nutrition
\nand no sod will console
\nthat feeling from her heart
\nwhich clearly emantes each day
\nthe farmers cold approach to it
\nsays it all I’d say
\ngreed and blood selfishness
\nseeling milk to those
\nhumans who imagine their mother
\nfigure grows
\nmore cowlike by the moment
\nbut when either is put down
\nyou wont hear any tears from them
\nthough in their own blood they drown
\nthe calf is put down rapidly
\nsent to he abattoir
\nif its male thats the sad tale
\nand it leaves a massive scar
\non the mother she will ne’r forget
\nthe passing of her child
\nas for us we care not
\ntill we hear the cry thats wild
\nthat haunts the sunshine dairy
\nthat curdles blood around
\nthe lament of cows and their babies
