Ind<\/span>ia, my home of homes
\nEndangered, that is me
\nAbout 2000 or so left
\nalive, here tragically
\nIndia adopted us,we are
\nthe national beast
\nYellow,some deep orange
\nStripes of Black
\nnot the least
\nBellies
\nWhite like driven snow
\nAround 500 pounds
\nof muscle, and some grow
\nlarger thats solitary males
\nWho rule the roost
\nand all the trails<\/p>\n

We love it where its tropical
\nthose forests, evergreen
\nThe moister, the better
\naround the mangrove
\nScene
\nToday the Himalayan foothills
\nare where we strut our stuff
\nPreying on the ungulates
\nwhere I think there
\nare enough<\/p>\n

I’m a mother with 2 children
\nat present there’s no male
\nWe do light up our being
\nAnd make a splendid tale
\nA good supply of food and water
\nChital, we like best
\nWild Boar and sometimes Porcupine
\nPeafowl,Hare , we’re blessed
\nOur biggest threat is man
\nThe hunter yes and You
\nThe trader for our body parts
\nour bones,our tail our skin
\nNo where’s safe not anymore
\nIts a fact now, we shan’t win<\/p>\n

Against your powerful rifles
\nWe just have to take care
\nFor the writings on the wall for us
\nFor you come from everywhere
\nMen creep from the sticky bowels
\nOf the swamp and there abouts
\nHeartless infidels they are
\nWho never have any doubts
\nThey will slaughter me as mercilesly
\nand my cubs yes, and them too
\nOur future does seem bleak
\nand there’s not much that we can do<\/p>\n

The Trophy Hunters, their bodies
\nalso like white snow
\nThey sit their in their mountain hides
\ntheir armoury on show
\ntelescopic eyes they have
\nand cheque books full of dollars
\nWe just end up as a photograph
\nOn the wall of these sad wallers
\nWe do live in the rich reserve
\nBut the Poachers they still come
\nThere’s no time we can ever rest
\nFor we all know there are some
\nReady to take\u00a0 advantage
\nAnd down us with their fire
\nAnd what would become of my babies
\na future worse than dire<\/p>\n

So I use all of my wisdom
\nmy hearing and my sight
\non edge I’m on edge all the time
\nEspecially at night
\nBut I vow to get a chunk of
\nman, if ever he dared try
\nI’d bite so deep into his flesh
\nAnd hear that bastard cry
\nI’d ravage him completely
\nTear away, until
\nHis blood ran from his body
\nand he was good and still<\/p>\n
