In a village lost in swirling mists
\nstands coca cola’s place
\ntaking vast amounts of water
\nwhich is a disgrace
\nfor the local people
\nare not allowed
\nto drill as far below
\nand many of their wells
\nare dry
\nwhich is a rotten show
\nit take 7 to 10 litres of water
\nto make 1 litre of coke
\nthis permutation
\nreally has to be a joke
\nand the effluent from the process
\nis toxic to be sure
\nand was being dumped around the plant
\nand you may ask what for?
\nwhat it did for the environment
\nand for public health as well
\nand when it made their animals sick
\nthis new waste straight from Hell
\nchromium and cadmium and lead a vile cocktail
\nit is going somewhere still
\nbut that’s another tale<\/p>\n
they were selling it to the farmers
\nas a fertiliser, they
\nsoon realised it killed their plants
\ncorruption was away
\nwith the birds so sadly
\ncompromised were they
\ninto being fooled in fact
\nand being made to pay<\/p>\n
now its being dumped elsewhere
\nbut nobody is sure
\nbut the water levels all about
\nare low and what is more
\nmany wells have dried up
\nand there’s pressure on them all
\nnot that coca cola cares
\nthey have their unending call<\/p>\n
on water at a greater depth
\nwhich really is a shame
\nbecause what in point of fact is waste
\nis toxic people claim
\nof course the corporation
\ncite’s wages and employment
\nbut conditions there are horrible
\nand the wages are so low
\nand the wider environment is clearly
\nreally suffering
\nand the government should really
\ntell the factory to go<\/p>\n
the Indian Parliament actually has banned
\nthe sale of soda’s in its cafeteria
\nit clearly knows the gist
\nand clearly samples taken
\nhave also contained Lindane
\nso really things are negative
\nand thats a tragic twist<\/p>\n
to what is really happening
\nto the people of the village
\nthey are suffering enormously
\nfrom the water problem they
\nhave to wash, to drink, to use
\nits something everyone would choose
\nnot to have this problem
\ngetting more serious by the day
\nand knowing a great factory
\nis turning potable water
\ninto toxic sludge
\nwhat can one say!<\/p>\n
and dumping it around the place
\nand clearly they dont budge
\nrearly this is not on
\ninternationally we need
\nto back these people to the hilt
\nand help them to succeed
\nfor everyone on earth should and needs
\nwater
\nand no vast corporate should ever have the right
\nto come into a village and usurp the peoples lifes blood
\nshare by all means but create a blight<\/p>\n
