To be all alone
\nin the desert must have
\ncut into her soul
\non one’s last legs
\nlost in a maze of sadness
\none’s control
\nbeaten back by misery
\nand the loneliness of strife
\nlacking food and water
\nand wondering why life
\nhas dealt you such
\nan awful hand
\nas you are friendless still
\na shadow of your former self
\nbroken now your will
\nunder such vile pressure
\nto close your eyes and die
\nthen into your environment
\ncame a rather joyful guy
\nhe smiled and you felt a little hope
\nflooding back into
\nhe walked away and came back
\nwith tortillas what a true
\ninspiration he was and water too
\nhe gave
\nthis from a total stranger
\nsomehow he tried to save
\nyou a wretch that no one loved
\ndiscarded, left to die
\nbut one tall angel turned up
\nand helped you which was why
\nyou rallied in that moment
\nthe guy met others who
\ncame back for to lend a hand
\nbut alas what could they do
\nthe dog was not around alas
\nmissing so to say
\nlost in a cloud of confusion
\nso they all went on their way
\nbut one came back and searched and searched
\nand finally she was found
\nwhimpering and dying really
\nprostrate on the ground
\nso pitiful
\nso tragic
\nribs everyone could see
\nshe was just a bag of bones
\nbut somehow instantly was able
\nto imagine the bounty that lay ahead
\nvery close to closing off
\nand actually being dead
\neverywhere was ravaged her skin
\nher fur for she
\nhad been overcome by the fleas and lice
\nand the ticks and you could see
\nshe was in the most sorry state
\nbut within the parlous form
\nwas a little heart a beating still
\nwhich turned out to be still warm
\nstill hopeful of assistance
\nand so it was to be
\nTania joined a family of rescue dogs
\nand she
\nnow lives happily ever after
\nwith Martha her true friend
\nand she really thanks her lucky stars
\nand has asked me to send
\nher thanks to that guy who saved her
\nwho brought her back to life
\nwith tortillas and with water
