\na wild one who
\nwalks alone and it is known
\nknows exactly what to do
\na life of such contentment
\nthe experience is whole
\nsilently and solidly
\ntakes on that special role<\/p>\n
another apex predator
\npart of the great wheel
\nof Nature in their being
\nso much they conceal
\nintegral to the balance
\nto the equilibrium we
\npick up from the forests
\nfrom the mountains
\nwhere they be<\/p>\n
they are solitary
\nand remain so
\ntheir intelligence immense
\nthey understand their being
\nthey have an enormous sense
\nof direction and of fore thought
\nwhich holds them in good stead
\nman alone is their enemy
\nand he appears now wed<\/p>\n
to the idea he’s superior
\na god inside his frame
\nwith little attention to the whole
\nto him life’s one big game
\nand everything else has no bearing
\ninstinctively he’s less
\nthan a worm now crawling in the earth
\nbut his value causes stress<\/p>\n
he arms himself with his rifles
\nhe is sold on slaughter, he
\nhas no regard to the natural world
\nand its purpose, he’s not free
\nhe’s a slave and has a slaves mind
\nhe’s been pummelled by the state
\nhe drives one of those 4 by 4’s
\nand inside himself he is great<\/p>\n
he wants the head of a cougar
\non his study wall
\nto remind him what a bastard is
\nand how the bastards rule
\nthe universe, his universe
\nfor he decides the fates
\nof every living soul alive
\nand he above all rates<\/p>\n
his chances he behind a gun
\nsports a deadly stance
\nstalks the lonely cougar
\nshares its final dance
\n200 maybe living
\nhe wants to bag one still
\nhe wants one of the 80
\nbeing shot to show his skill<\/p>\n
alas true skill of purpose
\nis to leave the wild one’s be
\ngo out with a camera perhaps
\nand check in with the free
\nspirit of the cougar
\nshare the midnight sky
\nbut leave the soul to wander
\nin the shadows asking why<\/p>\n
being truly natural
\nliving out its time
\ncreation gave it purpose
\nthere is really is no rhyme
\nor reason in the scheme of things
\nto terminate and kill
\nany soul that creation gave
\na spirit and a will<\/p>\n
to men I say be wary
\nof what you seek to do
\nto slaughter and to finish
\nlives pre judged the view
\nis there’s not yours and ending
\nanother’s just so you
\ncan sport their head upon your wall
\nis a devilish thing to do<\/p>\n
the state in which you hunt the prey
\nhas also lost its way
\nits lost sight of the value
\nof life I have to say
\njust 200 cougars left
\nroaming the wild
\nand 80 of them will be killed
\nthis cannot be reconciled
\nin the creations book of knowledge
\nits a tempestuous affair
\nits shows how man has slipped down
