Alberta’s tar sands development
\nis key in Alberta’s mind
\nthe inuit the environment the caribou
\na sign
\nthe wolves and other creatures
\nthey don’t get a look in
\nits all about the oil and gas
\nthose industries they win<\/p>\n
hands down they have the best hands
\nthe money and the power
\nthey imagine killing wolves
\nwill save the caribou
\nthe hour
\nis nigh
\nand sadly Alberta and the Government
\nreally do not care
\nthey are into oil and gas
\nand that’s their only prayer<\/p>\n
smoke goes every which ways
\npollution all that ooze
\nis flooding into first peoples land
\nthat’s the awful news
\nand oil and gas just raise it up
\nand care nothing for those who
\nhave pristine lands up on the flanks
\nof what they want to do<\/p>\n
oil and gas is dirty its the energy of lust
\nits the energy of profit
\nbut the prophets hit the dust
\nthe wolves are part of nature
\nits the balance it is true
\nthe tar sands now are killing
\neven the caribou<\/p>\n
rivers are being poisoned
\nfish are dying out
\nthe wolves are being shot to death
\nfrom planes this is the rout
\nthis industrialization is a monster
\nin reverse
\na cancer growing daily
\na vile and terrible curse<\/p>\n
and its growing every which way
\nand there’s no way it is right
\nbut the money and the taxes
\nare creating such a blight
\nthe countryside the water courses
\nonce pristine now are not
\nand everybody’s suffering
\nfrom the oil and gas and grot<\/p>\n
Alberta isn’t listening
\nthe inuit they know
\nthey live not in their mansions
\nbut out in the ice and snow
\nthey realise as we all realise
\nthe damage being done
\nbut nobody higher up in the world
\nis listening, the sun
\nis still up there shining
\nand sometimes the skies are blue
\nit rains it snows the wind it blows
\neverything is dandy
\nbut on the ground its unstable what they do
\noil and gas are guzzlers of the water
\noil and gas are guzzlers of the air
\noil and gas are crippling the environment
