Germany works into its infra structure
\nwild life crossings as we do its true
\nwhilst we’re building them within the structure
\nwe’re also doing our best to kill them too
\nwe spend millions putting in vast tunnels
\nfor moles and badgers, foxes even newts
\nroad building takes into account these passages
\nand by ways
\nwe have to share our spaces as time suits
\nwhen we gaze at roads through forests
\nwe may wonder
\nhow deer’s and smaller mammals ever dare
\nto cross the roads and many do we know this
\nbecoming road kill
\nwe see them lying there
\nit was a way, it was their way, we encroached
\non them
\nstole their very existence
\nand just tried to hem
\nthem into a space somewhere
\nwhere we couldn’t build
\nthat was our only strategy
\nand of course if we concealed
\nway deep under motorways
\nour camera’s could soon show
\nthat the tunnels, they were being used
\nthey were going with the flow<\/p>\n
That Germany is doing it
\nI am sure the rest are too
\nwe have special crossings on our roads
\nfor Badgers and Foxes who
\nare then killed by the government
\nor blind eyes turned away
\nwhen the red coated toffs go riding
\nin the cool light of the day<\/p>\n
in many ways its thoughtful
\nas habitat is lost
\nto incorporate some by ways
\nat whatever cost
\nthis stamps some true approval
\nthat they have their rights too
\nand underlines the ignorance
\nthat this Badger cull does do<\/p>\n
and it underwrites the evil that
\nhunts do every time
\nthey go out with their bloody hounds
\nand over hillocks climb
\nwe have our varied wild souls
\nand we have to think that they
\nhave rights to walk the wild paths
