A calamitous state of affairs
\ndoth exist
\nfor this elephants feeding away
\nat peace with himself
\ntasting the freshness
\nhopeful of life
\nthen… dismay<\/p>\n
interrupted him
\nand I can feel
\nshock waves coming
\nfrom his clearly fresh sweet green entree
\na family with guns to the ready
\nwere ready to blow him away<\/p>\n
He was a majestic creature
\na sensitive sentient soul
\ncreated to carry a burden of trust
\nand candidly try to control
\nhis great handsome tusks
\nthe tools that he used
\nto root through the bushes and tear
\nhe knew that the habitat was being lost
\nman un kind, not about to share<\/p>\n
hunters were paying the piper
\nthe wild one’s aware of the deals
\nthey saw and the realised families were coming
\nthat’s really how it all feels
\nanimals sense and smell trouble
\nthey hear foreign sounds in their head
\nthe smells of these women its alien stuff
\nand encompasses in them some dread<\/p>\n
they are wild and of course are tuned in
\nto their space
\nthey remember the blossoms, the grass
\nevery trace
\nand though never seeing some of the flowers
\nthey are very aware with their delicate powers
\nof perception they can
\nbuild up a picture and some realise
\nwith the noise they are making
\nit won’t be a surprise<\/p>\n
but here was an ambush some family
\nand one of those hunting firms trying to be
\nall things to all people but of course they
\nare mercenary soldiers who sell us each day
\nmark us as targets victims to those
\nwho have the big bucks and thus I suppose
\nits these ill gotten gains that turn heads
\nevery time
\nas out of the swamp comes this foul smelling slime<\/p>\n
ready to point directly at those
\nwho are ready to live on their faces it shows
\nbut are marked up to die
\nvia amateur shots
\nwho giggle and fret though they have pots and pots
\nof the money that turns heads and closes some eyes
\nfor with enough money the biggest surprise
\nI can get targeted I am today
\nthey have clearly got money to blow me away<\/p>\n
they are after my tusks there’s no doubt about that
\ncoming to terms with this
\nthis tit for tat
\nour lives are mean’t to be spent
\nin the field
\nbut the great power of money
\nand what it does yield
\nis too much for all of us
\nwe appear doomed
\nwhere ever man wanders
\nwith his heart so entombed
\nin his pocket the earthlings
\nthey don’t have a chance
\nthe risks are immense
\nthere is no second glance<\/p>\n
its BANG and the steel projectile
\ndelves into
\nour bodily structure
\nand might pass straight through
\nYes it all over the searing hot lead
\ncuts through the marrow
\nand death comes instead<\/p>\n
with his black shiny sickle
\nto carve a great hole
\nand we feel ourselves falling
\nshot up by the troll
\nsome vile human being
\nhis family in tow
\njackasses laughing as
\ndown I now go
\nscreaming those false screams
\nmeaningless tarts
\nwho come with their bare legs
\nand hard wooden hearts
\nthe men well what are they
\ninsensitive gits
\none look at them
\nand we all get the shits
\nthe canned trophy wallah’s
\nbribed with dollar bills
\nwhose march to the bank
\ngives them one or two thrills
\nYes as I crunch on my knees
\nI now know
\ndespite years still in me
\nI do have to go
\nand thus that draws dust in clouds
\neverywhere
