Every child on earth knows
\nwhat an elephant is
\na unique being with a lifespan
\nclose to us
\nsome 70 years they walk
\nthe soils of Africa and India
\nand I have one main question
\nto discuss
\nits infamy and selfishness
\nand wickedness
\nof markets in Hong Kong and
\nChina where
\nmuch of the ivory finds its way
\nthe torment and agony on display
\nand what amounts to really
\ndire despair<\/p>\n
The Elephants need their tusks
\nas tools an integral part and they
\nwhen cornered by the bandits
\nthe lowest forms of life
\nhave to watch as they cut their tusks
\naway
\nits evil and its leading to extinction
\nthese sweet iconic animals need space
\nChina throws its spanners in the market
\nand offers real good prices just to place
\nforward orders that attract the criminals
\nand this is why so many elephants die
\nto sacrifice them for a bunch of trinkets
\nis a price creation feels now is too high<\/p>\n
amongst the profit seekers
\nfew are prophets
\nmostly they are hoodlums
\non the look
\nout for a fast buck
\nthis market it does suck
\nits frighteningly obvious
\nthe book
\nis thrown at every soul
\nwho thinks to conquer
\nto breach the true security
\nwe know
\nand murder in cold blood
\nor poison them the thud
\nof bodies crashing down
\nwith such a blow<\/p>\n
the world now feels the need
\nto intercede here
\nconsternation has to be
\nin vogue
\nit is with trepidation
\nthat we bring the locals in
\nand hope to god
\nwe can deter the rogue
\nthe craven hearted spiritless
\ndisfigure
\nthey care nothing for the animals
\nwho do
\nwander in their herds to far off
\nwaterholes
\nand trumpet loud and clear
\nwhen they are in view<\/p>\n
they really have no enemies
\napart from man
\nand the tables are being turned
\nit must be said
\nthere is still trophy hunting
\nand some hunting
\nbut most of what we see
\nis really led
\nby China and its messages
\nfrom Hong Kong
\na trading port with history
\nand we
\nmust try to stop this trade
\nand, try to put paid
\nto these particlarly awful consignments
