Life for me was peaceful
\nI had solace I had joy
\nthe street was where I made
\nmy home
\nnothing did annoy
\nme here the sun was always warm
\nI had water I could drink
\nchildren came to talk to me
\nso really I had a link
\nto the new world of the children
\nand the old world which was mine
\nand the two of them I experienced
\nlife truly was divine<\/p>\n
it was one hot afternoon
\nand I was just crossing the street
\nwhen a car came out of no where
\nI couldn’t move my feet
\nfast enough and it hit me
\nand knocked me really flat
\nI felt a shaft this agony
\nand really that was that<\/p>\n
the blighter never even stopped
\nhe was going somewhere fast
\nmy breathing suddenly got hard
\nI remember thinking blast
\nwas this to be my last breath
\nit would be such a shame
\nI loved my life I loved my breath
\nand I just wasn’t to blame<\/p>\n
I sat there really couldn’t move
\nsurprised he didn’t stop
\nclearly he had no respect for me
\nclearly I wasn’t top
\nof his so called agenda
\nscurrying off real fast
\nand me in all sorts of agony
\nand now my die it seemed he’d cast<\/p>\n
a day passed and a night passed
\nI was feeling weaker and he
\nthe man whose car had hit me
\nnever came back to see
\nhe never cared or worried
\nthese humans really do
\nsurprise me supposedly devout
\nand they haven’t got a clue<\/p>\n
I passed on on the third day
\njust lay my head and cried
\nactually I was beside my self
\nhow that creep, had denied
\nme and my existence
\nand just went on his way
\nwedded to his religion
\nbut clearly not au fait<\/p>\n
with what makes true believers
\nbelieve what makes them feel
\ntheir love for their great god above
\nfor them if its so real
\nI would have thought at least
\nthe man would have come to see me
\nbut being oh so pious
\nhe didn’t seemingly<\/p>\n
and so I laid my old head down
\nand then closed both my eyes
\nI felt my soul departing
\nthat was about the size
\nhuman beings do things
\nthis one had finished me
\nand hadn’t bothered to wish me well
\nit was a catastrophe<\/p>\n
and I don’t suppose he gave me a second thought
\nas I
\ndrifted to the rainbow bridge
\nsomewhere in the sky
\nlooking down on India
\non the streets where I had been
\njust a tangle of moving vehicles
