Long legs a mane
\na fellow from the high plains
\nwho loves the savannah grasslands
\nand abounds
\na denizen of wild places
\nwho can put us through our paces
\ntaller than a great Dane and it sounds
\nmagical and it is the strangest being
\na rich red coat a mane like some
\nbold lion
\nand legs so long and spindly
\na really graceful soul
\nwho runs into the bravest breeze
\nand remains in control
\nwe really ought to call him
\na great drifter
\nfor that’s his journey almost every day
\nranging over wide areas his habitat
\neating all he can along the way
\nyou may see him though he’s wily
\nlate at night that’s when he hunts
\nhe likes the rolling habitat
\nand with all his varied stunts
\nhe will catch even a deer this lad
\nand rodents snakes and more
\nhe looks frail but he’s powerful
\nand has guile too naturally
\nthe Maned wolf thats his title
\nparading effortlessly
\nand has a keen agility
\nso even birds can be
\npart of his daily diet
\nwhen he springs into the air
\nperhaps 24 kilos
\nbut such energy is there
\nand his vision is amazing
\nwith a wonderful sense of smell
\nthis fellow has been rewarded
\nwith senses that are well
\nbeyond so many others
\nhe is gifted in that way
\nand can be a successful loner
\nand is of course Today<\/p>\n
a wild soul he is wild al’right
\nyou are drawn to him for he
\nglows with that red coat of his
\nand when he’s running free
\nhe’s like a ray of sunshine
\na spirit of the field
\nbut when he really wants to be
\nhe can be so concealed<\/p>\n
but really he’s so graceful
\nand slender in his gait
\nhe is not your average carnivore
\nhe has a unique trait
\nhe keeps away from humans
\nbut he keeps them in his sight
\nhe knows how bloody dangerous
\nthey are and he is right<\/p>\n
and perhaps that is his saving grace
\nto keep his distance and
\nreally never threaten to ever
\nunderstand
\nwith such wonderful hearing
\nits hard to think that he
\ncould ever end up ambushed
