Like so many animals living today
\nman is the greatest of enemies, they
\ndestroy natural habitat
\nfor commercial reasons
\ndestruction is evident
\neven to seasons<\/p>\n
In Sumatra there was a tiger
\nand there
\nin the thick virgin forests
\nthe island did share
\nthis wonderful unique Tiger of old
\nwho clung to the forests
\nwhere secrets unfold<\/p>\n
it loved isolation
\nwhere cover was thick
\nbut man’s intervention
\ndid rapidly lick
\nthey tore out the high trees
\nthe life force and all
\nand planted oil palm
\nand rubber their call<\/p>\n
commercial interests
\ncorporate cash
\nacacia groves logging
\nand flash
\nburning of areas
\nsaw the decline of Tigers
\nand others
\nright down the line<\/p>\n
despite some protection
\nwhen cover is lost
\nprey animals dissipate
\nfood sources tossed
\ninevitably this means
\nimbalance and pain
\nand the Sumatran Tiger
\nhad little to gain<\/p>\n
oil palm is open its dark
\nbut its not
\nlike a vibrant forest
\nthe world goes to pot
\nthe wild one’s can’t hack it
\nand so what we see
\nis diminishing numbers
\nand soon there might be<\/p>\n
less and less and then
\nextinction it looms
\nfor poachers are out there
\nthe low life presumes
\nanything that can make money
\nis worth
\nthe effort and trapping them
\nhas given birth<\/p>\n
to a rise in their body parts
\nfor the Chinese
\nThe Traditional medicine
\nis there to please
\nthe rising interest in China
\nalas
\nis dragging the Tiger
\ninto the morass<\/p>\n
and outlets in Sumatra
\nare still selling parts
\nand numbers are dwindling
\nits breaking our hearts
\nto see the Sumatran Tiger
\nbeing killed
\ndespite the protection
\npoachers have spilled<\/p>\n
their blood in such numbers
\nman un kind appears
\nto be there in the midst
\nincreasing the fears
\nin some peoples minds
\nthat man will see the end
\nof every wild animal
\nhe called his friend<\/p>\n
for habitat loss
\nthat’s man stealing the land
\nchanging its balance
\nthey dont understand
\nanything really where money
\ncan be
\nmade for the short term
\nas tree after tree<\/p>\n
is chopped down and replaced
\nby Rubber and Palm
\nwhich for the long term
\nsounds the alarm
\nall living creatures
\nthe big ones and the small
\nand man himself
\nyes really all
\nwill suffer the great consequences
\nand may
\nnever recover just eternally pay
\nhow selfish we are
\nour foresight is nil
\nwe have splendid eyes
\nits our hearts that are still
\nwe think of ourselves
\nour children who cares
\nthey can look after
\ntheir own affairs
\nour need for money
\nis greater than there’s
\nwe are the kings
