How out of touch
\nand thus complicit
\nso many of us are Today
\nreally in all walks of life
\nwe felt clearly
\nwe were au fait
\nour life was our life
\nand we just carried on
\nfrom day to day
\nspoon fed with the
\ncorporate nonsense
\nthat kept us
\ngoing on our way<\/p>\n
we were up there
\nwith all the news
\nand all the happenings
\nso we thought
\nbut clearly spoon fed
\nwe naively
\nquietly we were being bought<\/p>\n
we sort of felt that we had freedom
\nto work all day to do our thing
\nbut we were really on a treadmill
\nhoodwinked on a kind of swing
\nout beyond the realms of living
\nfar across the azure sea
\nthere were others suffering mayhem
\nwhich did not occur to me<\/p>\n
indigenous people the first people
\nthey were there before we came
\nthey were the guardians of the planet
\nwild but we would have to tame
\nthem and we duly tamed their spirit
\nkilled them off and stole their land
\ntook their freedom and gave them nothing
\nplundered their fruits and gave them sand<\/p>\n
it really wasn’t ever spoke of
\nit happened very far away
\nthe deaths and all the vile destruction
\nof a people day to day
\nMoney, Prostitution, alcohol
\ntook its toll and sunk into
\ntheir consciousness the weakened spirit
\ntore great hole in spirits too<\/p>\n
and left the mighty armies rampant
\nthey took over the sacred lands
\ntearing forests mining minerals
\nstealing with their bloodied hands
\nfreedom became the ugly war cry
\nthe corporate clout was heightened by
\nthe greed and arrogance in the moment
\nits was so easy to watch them die<\/p>\n
sago palms and mangrove forests
\nprimary forests all were there
\nrespecting the gods and what they were given
\nbut clearly now so unaware
\nof the involvement of corporate monsters
\nwho came to plunder and to rape
\nsuffering was so apparent
\nas clearly they did change their shape<\/p>\n
and the indigenous were very simple
\nnative people easy prey
\nas their beliefs were so eroded
\neven their hope frittered away
\nHow out of touch
\nand thus complicit
\nso many of us are today
\nreally in a wild wild world
\ngiven to believe we are all au fait
\nbut in point of fact
\nwe are lost souls really
\non a treadmill much the same
\nwe are the new indigenous people
\nunaware
