excuses they have many of them
\nthe government feels it is right
\nthey’ve sided with the farmers
\nand condemned the badgers
\nfor me they are wrong
\nday is night<\/p>\n
tonight as the moon lifts
\nits presence
\nand peers from the clouds
\nwe shall hear
\nBadgers come scuffling out of their
\nsetts
\nto be shot that’s a whole lot
\nof fear<\/p>\n
fathers will lose wives this evening
\nchildren may lose both and they
\nmay perish inside their homes sadly
\nfarmers are losing their way
\ntied to the corporate counter
\nno where to go but to blame.
\nanything other than what they are told
\nfor that is the name of the game<\/p>\n
the badgers are innocent bystanders here
\nlost in the forest tonight
\nthe government hasn’t a clue what its doing
\nit just tell itself that its right
\ndeath and destruction is coming
\nto a sett near us all it appears
\nthe government will waste a whole lot of money
\nand there will be so many tears<\/p>\n
time is the healer Time is the judge
\nhow it will pan out
\nwhose going to budge
\nwho will say they were wrong
\nwho has the strength
\nand how many badgers die
\nthe breadth and length
\nof our lovely country
\nwe shall have to see
\nwe shall have to bury
\nall those with TB<\/p>\n
the cattle are lowing
\nwhose baby awakes
\nnot the little lord jesus
\nbut the badgers the rakes
\nare going to feel it
\nthey are going to die
\nand no one’s the wiser
\nwhich just makes me cry<\/p>\n
I feel the tears coming
\nsalty and wet
\nmaking my eyes smart
\nwhat a great debt
\nwe pay to the badgers
\ntheir sacrifice will
\nprove something but who cares
\nwho picks up the bill<\/p>\n
it happened before
\nand we agreed that their pain
\nwas a total disaster
\nbut we do it again
\nwe just do not learn
\nfrom mistakes we have made
\nas our hair grows more silver
