We have set to work to darken
\ntheir character and fool
\nthe population sadly
\ncreate a kind of ghoul
\nthat roams the wilder areas
\nin search of blood and gore
\na beast that shows no mercy
\nwith a passion that is raw<\/p>\n
imagine such a beast
\na wild soul yes indeed
\nwho roams in packs whose prowess
\nis clearly to succeed
\nhis main rival is man un kind
\nthe ranchers who would see
\nthe wolf and all his brethren
\nmurdered instantly<\/p>\n
trapped or hunted
\nmachine gunned from the air
\njust any way
\nto get to grips with this predator
\nwho very quickly rips
\nthe life out of his charges
\nthe rancher man I mean
\nwho spreads his cattle
\nacross the land
\nlike an ever changing stream<\/p>\n
into the path of the wolf souls
\nwho will take down any steer
\nwolves don’t understand
\nthe ploy of man and do not fear
\nthey are apex predators
\nthe truest carnivore
\nand so there is a conflict
\nin fact an all out war<\/p>\n
but wolves are very honourable
\nthey live a good clean life
\nthey love they mourn
\nand it must dawn
\non them their life of strife
\nis not made any easier
\nby our fiction and our lies
\na wolf is not some monster
\nthis we must realise<\/p>\n
its created as we all are
\nit has a precious place
\nto compete in the wilderness
\nof course it has to face
\nall sorts of external pressures
\nwhich it does with so much ease
\nand with family cooperation
\nand the spirit for to please<\/p>\n
its a successful hunter
\ninstinct takes it far
\nborn with innate qualities
\nreally its the star
\nits experience of Nature
\nits magical embrace
\nit can so fight its corner
\nwith aggression and with grace<\/p>\n
it is facing a real sombre time
\nfor the ranchers have the power
\nand can influence the government
\nlobbying hard for now
\nthere’s pressure always pressure
\nthere is profit to be had
\nwhich has led to desperation
\nin some quarters which is sad<\/p>\n
the realms of legendary fantasy
\nhave worked into our mind
\nthe wolf comes in for criticism
\neverywhere we find
\npeople ready to go out
\nand kill them which is why
\nthey need to be protected
\nfor many people lie<\/p>\n
and the wolf it gets the brunt
\nof it
\nand this is hardly fair
\nthe first people know the truth of it
\nthey are so aware
\nhaving lived out in the forest
\nwith the wolves from long ago
\nboth respect each other
\nfor both were in the flow<\/p>\n
now the city slickers
\narmed to the teeth have come
\nthey have other interests
\nprofits, every crumb
\nis important they want nothing
\nto stand now in their way
\nand wolves with their darkened characters
\nare fair game I would say<\/p>\n
and in many states the battle
\nis clearly highly charged
\nlegislation has been withdrawn
\nthe hunters they have barged
\ninto what was wolf land and are
\ntaking them out fast
\nthere is a battle going on
\nthe die now appears cast<\/p>\n
but the people must remember
\nthe wolves have been around
\nfor centuries and know the
\nprecious ground
\nthey live a really precious life
\nand family is their thing
\nthat’s why they are successful
\nand how they in fact bring<\/p>\n
their presence to the wilderness
\nand manage as they do
\nto by pass all the stories
\nand impress those who view
\ntheir prowess and their knowledge
\nand their intelligence and power
\nand of course their outstanding experience
\nwhich they utilise each hour<\/p>\n
they have to they are up against
\nman un kind who will
\nmake up stories tell their lies
\nand go after them and kill
\nsome times down from helicopters
\nsometimes trap them, they
\nreally have to be on their metal
\neach moment of each day<\/p>\n
