Donkey’s are a loving soulful group
\nof equine friends
\nthey are never beasts of burden
\nthat aura now transcends
\nall the empty reasoning
\nthat ever came from man
\nwho knows well of his cruelty
\nand when it began<\/p>\n
when money entered the affray
\nwhen profits took the stage
\nthat’s when the poor Donkey
\nwandered off the page
\nloaded up and heavy
\ngroaning under strain
\nfeet torn by the fragments
\nand wetted by the rain<\/p>\n
that’s when he was beaten
\nhis attitude was seen
\nas recalcitrant when he was just exhausted
\nhe had been
\nup and down the hill all day
\nhis back was broken by
\nthose heavy bricks
\nand mortar
\nhow much he had to pay<\/p>\n
and then to feel the masters stick
\ncrashing down on him
\nthe pain the woe and feeling low
\nbecoming inside grim
\ntrying to get up and walk
\nand do some more and try
\nbut the heart just giving out
\nand the donkey he did die<\/p>\n
and as he gasped aloud for breath
\nhis master swore about his breath
\nthe lazy donkey let me down
\ncarrying my bricks out of town
\nthere was no point to carry on
\nand he closed his eyes
