Science sees itself as some
\ngreat entity
\na great cloak that can cover up
\nour sin
\nthe Japanese have used it
\nwhen they are slaughtering the Whales
\nbut we all use it
\nand its wearing thin
\nIn Davis California
\nthe university
\nexperiments on animals
\ncreates adversity
\nfor all of them
\nthey all are sentient creatures
\nafter all
\neach one has its feelings
\nwhether big or small<\/p>\n
mice or pig or primate
\neach knows and suffers pain
\njust because we can’t feel that
\nto do it again and again
\nto them is hardly science
\nit smacks at being cruel
\negregious torture
\ndrives them up the wall
\nand we know we can see
\ntheir misery
\ntheir anguish at the way
\nwe taunt them and we torture
\nthem and really make them pay
\na heavy price for being
\nvoiceless in that sense
\nbut if would would only
\nlisten with our eyes
\nand through that dense
\nmaze of dire confusion
\nisolate the cause
\nthat terrible agitation
\nmight we momentarily pause
\nor not see their discomfort
\ntheir displeasure their concern
\nand treat them to more agony
\neven that we burn
\nand cause some ulceration
\nscience has to see
\nwhatever we do to animals
\nif its wrong
\nthen it shouldnt be<\/p>\n
antiquated laws to me
\nmean nothing they impart
\na curtain really on what we do
\nthe basis is our heart
\nour human being status
\nour so called sentient soul
\nsurely must preclude us
\nfrom taking the monster role
\nto arbitrarily gesture
\na specific point of view
\nand hide behind a cloak of death
\nfor me is not being true<\/p>\n
researchers have to come to terms
\nwith what it is that they must learn
\ntorturing animals for whatever reason
\nmust concern
\neverybody doing it
\nwhatever professors say
\nif they are who we follow
\nthen provided that their way
\nis without the need to slaughter
\nanother living soul
\nfrom another species
\nwho takes another role<\/p>\n
we must search our own souls
\nand decide what we would do
\nand refuse to kill and torture
\nthat now is my view
\nthe university research staff
\nhave to make a stand
\nwe outsiders believe we are right
\nand right across the land
\nmust not submit to indoctrination
\nwhatever their station, they
\ncannot expect our help
\nin torture or slaughter any day<\/p>\n
and so we say to those people
\nscience need not be
\nthe whipping boy for torturers
\nit does not have to be
\nthere are other ways to study
\nto kill to hurt to maim
\nis not one of them.its not ever
\npart of the big game<\/p>\n
so stop it
\ntell the researchers this is not for me
\nI came hear to study
\nnot kill animals I see
\ntheir truly sentient nature
\ntheir pain also I feel
\nit has to stop and stop right now
