\ntheir helplessness
\nits not weakness
\nbut a vulnerability
\na cow is hoisted by its two legs
\nhigh into a hold
\nits powerless and disabled
\ntragically
\nthe industry has
\nundermined integrity
\nits paralysed the spirit
\nfor we see
\na really shocking picture
\nfrom a dock somewhere
\nmanhandling a cow
\nwhich saddens me
\nit clearly shows
\nthe authority considers
\na being of this nature
\nneed not be
\ngiven any respect
\nand apparently they deduce
\nthat what they have
\nis a commodity
\nthe breaking down of
\nsense and sensibility
\nhas taken place
\nin the industrial factory farm
\nthe animals raised there
\nfor them its pure despair
\nthey seemingly become
\nan oddity
\nno longer a living breathing
\ncaring earthling
\nthe way they load and unload
\nproves beyond
\nany doubt no consideration
\nits pitiful and its so grim
\nto respond
\nits abusive and unflattering to see this
\nwith scant regard for any decency
\nmy feelings are it smacks
\nof obvious arrogance
\nand what is in effect
\ndone so rudely
\nthat we have let our morals slip
\nto this extent
\nand show the world at large
\nhow we’ve become
\nsullen with a gruffness
\nof a bunch of trolls
\nheartless in our manner
\nyes and some
\nand back to that sweet cow
\ndisplayed for everyone
\nto see
\nhanging on a pulley
\nfrightened obviously
\nnot an inkling of thought or care
\njust leave her hanging in the air
\nnothing more than a sack of coal
\nand this a mother a creative soul
\nimagine the grief she feels today
