Man unkind is so cruel
\nwith deception
\nin the backyard of the soul
\nhe cuts and runs
\nits really such sharp practice
\nto leave a lure or snare
\na truly vile contraption
\nin a run or just somewhere
\nthat man unkind has identified
\nto be a place where he
\ncan trap and kill this earthling
\npretty easily<\/p>\n
its, another, psychosis
\nto do with freedom, they
\nhave it
\nand the trapper may be feels
\nhe has no way
\nout of what restricts him
\nand a creature without a voice
\nroams about in their eyes
\nwith every sort of choice<\/p>\n
so to even up the equation
\nthe trapper lays his bait
\nknowing full well the creature
\nwill come his proven gait
\nis down this path the tracks
\nproved this
\nand so its going to show
\nif the trapper is trapped
\nwithin himself
\nthen the wild boy has to know<\/p>\n
what its like to be restricted
\nand have that inner pain
\nthat gnaws away at one’s sinews
\nand causes untold strain
\na totally warped mentality
\nexists within a man
\nwho wants but cannot get whatever prize
\nand evokes this plan<\/p>\n
wild animals seem powerless
\nthere are few laws around
\nprotection and detection
\nin red tape they are drowned
\nprecedents and statutes
\nand legal jargon do
\ncreate a nigh on nebulous
\nfield where few can now get through<\/p>\n
Imagining the wild soul
\nits freedom in the pot
\nit was on its manor
\na place it loves a lot
\nits where it knows its value
\nand this immensity
\nthis vilest of contraptions
\nhas proved what cruelty<\/p>\n
can do to a wild animal
\ncan cut it to its core
\nthe pain and ongoing blood loss
\nand shock its very raw
\nit may not understand the reasons
\nall it knows now is
\nits life is slowly dwindling
\nits losing its unique fizz<\/p>\n
but it is young and vibrant
\nwhy is it, it must die
\nperhaps these thoughts are evident
\nwhen one looks into its eye
\na wolf perhaps a black bear
\nas resignation grows
\nits helplessness apparent
\nand inexorably it shows<\/p>\n
if only it was possible
\nfor the trapper to conclude
\nthat his victim was conciliatory
\nin a state of solitude
\nif only his appealing eyes
\nmight soften and create
\na feeling of remorse within the trapper
\nthen the fate<\/p>\n
of both souls might be thus improved
\nthe sadness is alas
\nthat the trapper will wait many hours
\nand in a dark morass
\nthoughts drift in and out as consciousness
\nkind of ebbs and flows
\nand emotions conquer fears
\nthat the blood loss does expose<\/p>\n
death came very slowly
\ntheir pain, we share today
\neach was born with the same breath
\nthat the mind just took away
\none became the victim
\nbut both were victims they
\nthe trapper and the soul he trapped
