I suppose that there are circumstances
\nwhen owners cannot cope
\nbut being lost for 3 years
\nand turning up
\nyou would hope
\nyou could get back, to living
\nin the place where you had been
\nbut instead you hear
\nthey don’t want you
\ndespite being tired and lean
\nand sick
\nand full of murmurs
\ndespite your torrid state
\nthey have turned their backs
\nand walked away
\nand left you to your fate
\nhow you had so loved them
\nhow you had thought of them so
\nhow you had hoped one day to see
\ntheir smiling faces show
\nbut alas reality is free
\nreality has proven
\nthey don’t want you any more
\nthey won’t even come and see you
\neven if you were at death’s door
\nthe love you gave mean’s nothing
\nthey are happy without you there
\nand now of course you stay
\nin East Lake Veterinary clinic
\nnot a million miles away
\nsomeone may come forward
\nto help the likes of me
\nyes I have some problems
\nbut I have a heart still, free
\nits beating like it always did
\nand I promise I will be good
\nI will lick the hand that feeds me
\nlike in fact I always would
