For me it is clear
\nthat to be a wild creature
\nthat’s any wild creature
\nto then be restrained
\nfor commercial reasons
\nwould be utterly tragic
\nthe purpose of life
\nwould clearly feel drained<\/p>\n
there can be no logical reason
\nfor doing this
\ncommercial gain alone can never be
\na reason for denying
\nthe creature the right
\nto live where its born
\nand if born to be free
\nthen free it must be<\/p>\n
in the oceans of plenty
\nthe Orca swims proudly
\nhere is a creature
\nso needful of space
\nto capture and tranfer
\ninto an enclosure
\nin anyone’s mind
\nis a total disgrace<\/p>\n
these are amazingly intelligent beings
\nable to ponder and think all the time
\nthey don’t need constraints
\nand commercial factoring
\nthis is their world
\nand there isn’t a rhyme<\/p>\n
or reason to ever create
\nthe anomaly
\nSea World and others would
\nhave us believe
\nthese wondrous creatures
\nare sensitive souls
\nwith incredible judgement
\nand they do achieve<\/p>\n
a vast panorama
\nof wisdom and prudence
\nthis is to do with the vastness
\nwhere they
\noperate daily
\nthe depths to which they can
\nswim and explore
\nand in essence play<\/p>\n
to capture these spirits
\nto ignore the depths
\nand put them in tanks
\nshows us up to be
\nincredibly arrogant
\nblinded by money
\ndenying them freedom
\nand making them see<\/p>\n
the need to learn tricks
\nso incredibly boring
\nrepeating these tricks
\nmundanely each hour
\na kind of psychosis
\nis bound for to happen
\nand bring forth reaction
\ncoupled with much power<\/p>\n
captive wild creatures
\nare shocked by the treatment
\nthey get from the trainers
\nand others who try
\nto dampen their spirits
\nand make them forget
\nthe ocean the great depths
\nwhere in they did fly<\/p>\n
who are they
\nthose representing the humans
\nwho pay their vast sums
\nand are the mainstay
\nto the reasoning Sea World and others
\ncontinue
\nto take these wild hostages
\nand to them say<\/p>\n
this is your new life
\na tank dark and dismal
\nno depth to work with
\njust 20 odd feet
\ndown to a concrete dead
\nand flat surface
\nno where to hide even
\nit will unseat<\/p>\n
the smallest the shyest
\nthe quietest of souls
\nbut to be a wild orca
\nmessing with shoals
\nsearing through cold brine
\nand leaping through sky
\nto be left in a watery prison
\nto lie<\/p>\n
forlornly forever
\narrested by man
\nexpected to entertain crowds
\nif you can
\nno depths to hide in
\nno where to go
\njust be in their spotlight
\nout of the real flow<\/p>\n
their imagination
\nclearly is threatened
\ntheir amazing brain functions
\nare dulled and distressed
\nwe after all think
\nbelieve we hold the answers
\nwe set the questions
\nand there is no brink<\/p>\n
but of course these wild mammals
\nare built to withstand all
\nthey are a resourceful creation
\nand we
\nmust show respect for their every purpose
\nand not over ride really
\nwhat has to be<\/p>\n
for the moment we do that
\nfrustration will follow
\nit builds up and up in them
\nand it is clear
\nthese are the killer whales
\nthese traits are forthcoming
\nriling them really
\nwill make them appear<\/p>\n
and once they feel threatened
\nthe fear factor creates
\na daunting disclosure
\nof explosive force
\nthis can turn inward
\nor be expressed outward
\neither way it will
