The wonderful PLODS of Buxton
Their iniative was great
Stopping the dog walkers
Will seemingly create
A wonderful lockdown story
For they decided to
Put black dye in the turquoise water
To dissuade dog walkers, who
Come up there to photograph
And because it’s not blue any more
It doesn’t look so beautiful
As it did before
So nobody wants to go there
They would rather stay at home
Let the dog shit in the garden
And take photos of the gnome
Well that does sound a good idea
And Plods are bound to say
We followed the instructions
And now it’s dirty grey
And is so far from scenic
The walkers and the rest
Are following GOVERNMENT edicts
So for everyone it’s best.
Who cares about the environment
whether the fish will die
Or Whether it’s alkalinity
Is exceptionally high
Higher than swimming
in bleach some say
So because some twit might try
And swim in a lake that’s dangerous
They piled in loads of dye.
And now the wonderful blue lake
Is a dirty grey
And it’s all down to the men in blue
Past masters of dismay
As to the gnomes It’s brought some joy
They are noticed once again
Not hidden their paint flaking off
Feeling the age old strain
Now they are out there smiling
Up and down the street
On twitter and on snapchat
Yes even the elite
Want their gnomes in pride of place
So the lockdown has meant we
Are Not now in a dusty shed
But out there prominently
