Where was bo -peep?

It happened in Australia
About five years ago
A sheep called “Chris”
Went amiss
And in the outback he did go
Wandering for some six years
Neglected tragically
Bo peep clearly had gone to sleep
When “Chris” just became free
To wander through the outback
Under the bright blue sky
These days we breed sheep
To retain their wool
I wonder why
So we can make more money
From shearing and so we
Found this sheep
So clogged up with six years of wool
And he be

Really almost unable to walk
Or have a poo
The poor soul suffering in the heat
What can an animal do
Fortunately a hiker
Saw “Chris” and he called
The RSPCA out
And “Chris” was overhauled

They got a famous shearer
And they sedated
“Chris” a while
It took 45 minutes
The fleece sliced off in style
In total it weighed 89 pounds
And it is on show
At the National Museum
In Canberra we know

“Chris” had he not got away
Would have been eaten that’s for sure
But he was sent to a sanctuary
In New South Wales a store
House for others animal friends
The little oat sanctuary
Where he will spend his life
Being looked after lovingly.
